Re: X1 Carbon 20A8

based on my experience, i would suggest you to download each drivers for win8 and win8.1 and then re-install them again. dont use lenovo's update untility as it may not be able to pick up new requirement on windows 10 system. note, some drivers may not want to install, but those which you can install will most likely work and fix your problems.

how about you download all the latest windows 8.1 driver for your pc, and
re-install them one by one. especially the intel chipset driver (which
fixed my problem)

Machine: Yoga 3 Pro - 1370

Build: 9600 -> 9926 -> 10041

Install Method: Windows Update

Build Compatible: Yes

Clean installed 8.1 x64, then updated to 8.1 Pro x64 using a spare key. after reboot, everything worked as expected(wasn't expecting anything to break). Then I updated to 9926. To my surprise, everything worked. before, I had massive performance and driver issues with 9926. Finally, I set the build ring to fast, installed all the pre-req updates, then updated to fbl_impressive-10041. The device runs like a dream. All the drivers work(no issues in device manager). all of the lenovo apps work(companion, settings, harmony). UI mode switching(continuum) works, albeit a bit buggy(if i start to close the laptop lid, but dont close it fully, it flips to tablet/stand mode, but other than that the mode switching works great and the apps/start menu transition properly.

EDIT: user gcoupe is reporting an issue with updating to 10041. YMMV.

ThinkPad 10

2015-04-01, 11:08 AM

Machine: ThinkPad 10 with LTE (Germany) (LENOVO_MT_20C1_BU_Think_FM_ThinkPad 10)

Build: 9926 - 10041

Install Method: Windows Update, Fast Ring

Build Compatible: Yes

Almost everything worked so far with an update route 9841-9926(fresh install)-10041(push upgrade on fast ring).

However, 2 tiny driver issues make an update to 10049 impossible.

The first is the NFC module which was successfully installed but not functional (code 10 for power failure).

The second is the BIOS communication interface "Lenovo PM Device", which installs the service IBMPMSVC, which could never be started due to an error code 2 (The system could not find the file specified.)

These two are supposed to be the reason for a Windows Update Error 800705b4, which requests resolving driver issues.

In fact the upgrade screen did show up once before the error was supposedly registered by the Windows Update Agent, but it failed and the system rolled back. Further trials fail at the preparation stage.

By the way, power consumption is excellent even without the PM device functioning.

1. Find the extracted folder

2. from Device Manager choose update the Ericsson N5321gw driver.

3. browes and go to the path as in step 1.

Enjoy.

Problem is that I can't update to 10049 without some certain driver updates(note the error code). Maybe I should turn off the driver update function from Control Panel?

No dont. That why I'm here. I have crashes on the w520 when the OS is higher than 9926.There some device and no driver. WE have to find what the device is and create a dummy driver for it....some how.
