Re: Windows 10 no network connections or wifi

2015-07-30, 15:46 PM

Can someone please tell me the specific version of Cisco VPN client that causes this problem?

Also, is there any other software (such as AV, firewall, security, etc) that is confirmed to cause this problem?

We want to give Microsoft as much information as possible about this issue.  Thanks for your help.

I may have the answer here.  After my Yoga 2 Pro Windows 10 install, I couldn't get any wireless connections to sho up, so I ran the Troubleshooter.  I got this issue:  "Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter."

A couple of searches later I was pointed to checking the "WLAN AutoConfig" service.  It was set to Manual and was not Running.  I changed it to "Automatic", and started it, and now I have wireless!!!

See if this helps.

Tim,

Thanks.   We've noted this may be cropping up in other OEM forum as well as Microsoft Answers.

This discussion over on Answers seems to focus on the VPN

All,

As the discussion continues, if you encountered these symptoms could you note the version of VPN you are using?

Thanks!

Mark

Mark, My apologies. I first saw someone mention the Cisco AnyConnect client which is the SSL VPN client. Then, others talked simply anout "The Cisco VPN client" which generally means the ipsec one. Unfortunately, I have BOTH installed on my X1. If you would like version NUMBERS let me know and I'll get them for you (The IPsec one is the last one Cisco Released 5.0.07.0440 and the AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client was 3.1.09495

Hope this helps. I'm about to refresh my state and begin installing a couple years of software in hope of avoiding other weirdness.

Ugh

Please check http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro-surfusingwin10/no-wireless-device-after-upgrading-surface-pro-to/79b27611-d00a-4482-aa03-117abd0f51fb

To get wireless working without rolling back to Windows 8/8.1 is to run this command as admin.

netcfg -v -u dni_dne

It was provided by Barb Bowman.

In my case, it was the Cisco VPN client not their AnyConnect version. And the fix did work as I'm posting from my surface table upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 with Cisco VPN Client installed. Only had to run that command as admin to fix the network issue.

Mark,

I believe I have done this for my X1 Carbon but I'm not sure I have the right driver actually installed.  How can I verify that I have selected the right driver.  The network adpater driver listed is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced -N 6205 (Version 15.16.0.2) - but I'm not able to configure the adapter for TCPIP V4, etc.

Mike

After 3 upgrades and restores to 8.1, using the Microsoft Fixit utility to uninstall the Sonicwall VPN client before the 4th upgrade did the trick.
