Re: Yoga 2 13 laptop - Windows 10 issues

2016-01-18, 22:06 PM

My battery life went from about 5hrs to 3hrs after the November 2015 update. The only way I can eek out 5-hours (more or less) is by going to the Mobilty Center and switching to Power Saver mode and enabling the Battery Saver function.

There appears to be an updated ACPI driver on the Lenovo support site but for some reason it doesn't seem to run on my copy of Windows 10.

I've been running a clean install of Windows 10 on my Yoga 2 13 since October 2015. It's worked relatively well for the most part, but the battery life and the scant driver support from Lenovo makes me not recommend it's installation on this model laptop. You're better off staying on Windows 8.1.

Dear Amy,

what's the state of the case you wanted to open ?

When can we expect a solution? E.g. a new version of IMEI 11? Downgrading to an old version does not really feel like a good solution. Especialliy if on the corresponding driver download page for the Yoga 2 13 only an EMEI version is provided which causes shutdown issues etc.

Kind regard

Re: Yoga 2 13 laptop - Windows 10 issues

Hi YogaWin10,

I tried to solve this problem a couple of months ago.

First I applied the following steps:

a) downgraded Intel VGA driver
to 10.18.15.4240 (July. 16 2015)
https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/2cy502af.exe

b) downgraded IMEI

to 11.0.0.1146 (July. 16 2015)

This solved the ghost touches issues, but added a shut down issue.

Then I downgraded IMEI to 9.5.15.1730

This worked for a while (no more shut down or ghost touches issues), but the touch screen has never worked very well. I can not even draw a straight line. If you touch any object, the image ends up constantly flickering. In practice, the touch screen is unusable, although there are no more ghost touches. I just wanted to do this report to see if matches your experience and know what you think.

Let me know. Thank you

I had the same shutdown and sleep issue which was also fixed by downgrading IMEI, wonder when it will be fixed properly so we don't have to rely on this technical workaround?!?!

I have been having most of my problems with wi-fi and display flickering. These are extremely frustrating and honestly I think its a bit outrageous that lenovo is just letting it persist.. I use my laptop everyday, I'm sure like everyone else, and I rely HEAVILY on it for work and homework. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling display drivers but that doesn't work. I even called tech support today to explain that this should be fixed and as nice as the lady was, all she tried to do was sell me an upgraded warranty and  refer me to a local computer technician. I REALLY wish Lenovo would figure this out. A lot of people bought this model and I know im not the only one experiencing these problems.

@GGuzman97

Just thought about upgrading to W10, reading what’s here and knowing how Lenovo is there’s no chance. Your wifi may not be W10 related. Search for the thread on Yoga 2 Pro Wifi connection, dropped connection, slow performance fix for wifi problems, was over 1000 pages but I guess Lenovo didn't like such a long thread going for well over a year with no solution in sight...so they trimmed it down when the driver came out.  It’s a disgrace the way they handled this. This is the last Lenovo I’ll ever buy.

Be careful how you install driver and NEVER update it!!!  Good luck!!!

How to install driver 13.0.3.3 because Lenovo is so so helpful to it’s customers, and I feel peoples pain trying to get it working so… After a bit of messing around getting it installed, and with the same problems some described above saying the driver was up-to-date but wasn’t the correct one. Try this...

1. Download driver (v17.0.3.3) from the link Mark provided at the top

2. In Device manager: Check your driver version in first so you know it changes later, goto Network adapters -> Intel® Wireless-N7260 -> right click properties -> (TAB) Driver

3. Uninstall this driver, also tick the remove software in the tick box.

4. Afterwards it will not be listed in the Network adapters until you right click and scan for hardware changes, do this. Now it will appear and it has loaded a default diver that’s located somewhere in the computer despite you just uninstalling it, don’t worry about this as the next steps will sort it out.

5. Run the downloaded file, 13kd018f.exe and follow the procedure, BUT STOP WHEN THE PAGE COMES UP 'COMPLETING THE INTEL WLAN DRIVER SETUP WIZARD HAS COMPLETED'. Now, uncheck the box that says ‘Install Intel WLAN Driver now’ and click finish. The first part of the install that has completed has loaded the driver in a folder C:\Drivers\Intel WLAN Driver

6. In Device manager: time to update the driver, Network adapters -> Intel® Wireless-N7260 -> right click properties -> (TAB) Driver, and update the driver and do it manually. Select 'Browse my computer for the driver software' … Now point to the driver you've just loaded in C:\Drivers\Intel WLAN Driver\Win7Plus\Win64.

7. Device manager: Check your updated driver version, Network adapters -> Intel® Wireless-N7260 -> right click properties -> (TAB) Driver, should be 17.0.3.3

8. Now reboot the laptop to be sure, now pray to the Gods, try some voodoo or make a sacrifice...more than once I’ve thought about sacrificing thing excuse for a laptop out the 8th floor apartment window…

@GGuzman97

@Rob_D

I would argue the Intel driver issues for the Wireless Card N7260 are over if you install the latest drivers from Intel.  I've been routinely updating that driver for months now with no issues.  I'm currently running driver v.18.30.0.9 (Driver Date: 11/3/2015) with zero issues.

I've also been able to rid the screen flicker issue by doing the following:

1. Go into the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel -> Graphics Properties

2. Power section

3. On left side click "On Battery"

4. Disable BOTH: 1. Panel Self-Refresh & 2. Display Power Saving Technology

I've been screen flicker free for nearly a week now but I've only used my laptop on 2-3 occasions on battery.  But last night I was on battery for nearly 3 hours with no issues.  First time I've had zero issues on battery since the upgrade to Win10.

I would still say my battery is not performing like it was on Win8.  But that also seems to have gotten better since I changed the Intel Graphics settings to rid the screen flicker.

Hope this helps someone.

Sadly, I had to downgrade to Windows 8.1. By now this is the only way to "solve" every problem. I'm really upset about the way Lenovo is handling these issues
