Yoga 2 wifi not working after update to Windows 10

2015-07-29, 18:34 PM

Hi all, I just updated my brand new Lenovo Yoga 2 (13") from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. But after doing so, I cannot establish any WiFI/W-LAN-connection! If I go to the settings for network adapters in the system settings, I even caanot find the wireless LAN adapter as if it was not installed at all! Can anyone help me? Is there any source for new drivers or something else to fix this?

Thanks a lot and best regards from Germany

Johannes

Re: Yoga 2 wifi not working after update to Windows 10

2015-08-03, 14:09 PM

All,

Please see this MS article that just came out and may be the fix.  I'm going to mark this as the solution to guide customers to this post, but we will continue to follow this thread.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3084164

Summary
After you upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, no wireless networks are listed as available. This is true even though the wireless network adapter seems to function correctly. If you restart the computer or you try to reinstall the wireless network adapter driver, this does not resolve the problem.

This problem may also prevent wired Ethernet connections from functioning correctly. This affects connections that are made through either a built-in Ethernet adapter or a USB Ethernet adapter.

Note Multiple issues may cause this problem. This article lists the known issues and the appropriate resolutions.
Known issues

Issue 1: Unsupported VPN software

Symptoms

Unsupported VPN software is present during the upgrade to Windows 10.

Cause

This issue may occur if older VPN software is installed on Windows 8.1 and is present during the upgrade to Windows 10. Older software versions contain a filter driver (the Deterministic Network Enhancer) that is not upgraded correctly.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Open an administrative Command Prompt window.
  2. Run the following commands:
    reg delete HKCR\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /f

    netcfg -v -u dni_dne

More information

This issue has been reported to Microsoft to occur when older versions of the Cisco VPN client and SonicWall Global VPN client are used. Customers should contact their VPN vendor to obtain software that is supported for use on Windows 10.

DerAuenlaender,

There are Windows 10 wifi drviers on our support site for the Yoga 2 13" system.  It depends if you have Intel or Atheros wifi card - if you don't know, you can check in device manager.

Here is the link to the driver page for your system - select the wifi component in the pull down and you should see the list.  Please try to install the updated driver for your system, reboot and see if wifi will now work for you.

Since you on are the forum, I assume you either have wired connection or use of another system and could download the drivers.

Please let us know if this solves the problem.

Best regards,

Mark

I do not know which chipset I have in the Yoga as there is no wifi adapter listed in the device manager. There is an unknown device in there which I am assuming is the wifi adapter.

@all:

Did you shut your notebook down and restart it after a while? This solved the WiFi problem for me.

I had the same issue on my Yoga 2 13 after a clean install from the Windows 10 ISO file downloaded from Microsoft. After the installation of Windows 10, the device manager could not find any network devices. Then I shut it down with the power switch. After a while, I restarted my notebook, and Windows 10 found the WiFi. The device manager had no problem any more and showed the Realtek RTL8723BE network adapter.

Good Luck! :cathappy:

Same issues windows 10/ yoga 2 pro

No wifi. It does not show the option in the network settings.

I grabbed the driver with another computer for windows 10 as suggested but when it installs it aborts because it says there is a newer driver installed. I tried to uninstall the file and do it again but still it says a newer one is available.

I tried to connect via ethernet using a 3.0 USB to ethernet adaptor. No luck there either as it said the device is not supported.  WHen i go to my device manager it shows Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

I have now reverted back to windows 8.1 until there are further suggestions that actually might work.

I really feel this is a Lenovo/windows fail how on earth do you not get the wifi working imediately.

FYI when going back to windows 8.1 wifi works imediately.

I'm having the same issue. Tried downloading and installing driver from the website but no luck. First it said no wireless connections, then it found the bluetooth, but still no wifi.

Its absoutely ridiculous. My laptop is, for all intents and purposes, bricked. Please get on this Lenovo.

Hi all, my WiFi is working again! As all of you, I had no possibility  to look up any model number of my WiFi card as it was not listed in the device manager. Installing any drivers did not help me.

I do not know if it really helped what I did or if I am just lucky, but all I did was to boot to BIOS. There I had the possibility to turn off and on again all wireless modules. After that, everything worked...

As I told you, I have no idea if this is in any way helpful, but you can just try!

@Lenovo: This really is an annoying problem, especially for those who have no ther internet acces like I have, they can't get help!

I tried the BIOS boot. Wireless was enabled - tuned off and on.
Does not solve the problem either.
