Stick with 1.30.

I have the same sort of situation with my 20H2 systems. Note also Win10's message on this screen, "If you have a specific problem, one of these drivers might help. Otherwise automatic updates will keep your drivers up to date."

So I continue to rely on Lenovo Vantage to do the job.

The intent here is to notify Lenovo so they can fix this together with MS.

This is a user community populated mostly customers and volunteers. While some Lenovo employees do participate, this isn't a formal mechanism for reporting such issues. I'm not sure what the appropriate channel for that is.

It doesn't look like a problem to me.  If 20H2 requires at least 1.29, MS would push that even if Lenovo offered a later one,  You wouldn't install 1.29 over 1.30.

Ok, so informal then.

Windows update has version detection logic. If you have a newer version of some driver it's not going to offer you an older version. Most of the time that works properly and bios updates pushed by WU should follow that pattern. Its somewhere between pointless and harmful to attempt bios downgrades, which is what this version detection failure promotes.

Isn't that something you should be reporting to Microsoft?

Distributing bios updates via WU is some sort of collaboration between Lenovo and Microsoft, and who is at fault here is not obvious. Lenovo certainly has an interest in making sure WU doesn't encourage potentially problematic bios downgrades.

As a related aside... as a personal general rule, I don't allow WU to install any hardware drivers, and certainly not any system firmware (BIOS) updates, on any machine I have that is not considered End-of-Life. There are legitimate methods for imposing these restrictions on WU.

Once a machine is EoL, though, WU may be the only way to get a newer hardware driver, but by that point it's highly unlikely that BIOS updates are still being developed/offered.

Regards.

It seems rather obvious to me. The WU screen is Microsoft's and it's their code that neglected to compare 1.30 with 1.29. Even if one argues that apparently Lenovo didn't notify Microsoft about 1.30 in a timely manner, Microsoft's code that should be intelligent enough to notice that 1.29 < 1.30 and thus not offer to regress the firmware.
