Incompatibility of my PC with Win 11

2021-09-22, 19:37 PM

I already asked a question today, but in german. I will ask it again: i want to upgrade to Win 11 and run a test to see, if my PC is compatible with Win11. The result was not good: there are two issues: CPU-compatibility not supported and TPM-module not available or deactivated. A look to the BIOS showed: no TPM. Now my question: is it possible to upgrade th PC (another CPU, add a TPM module)? If not, it will be catastrophic, for i must buy a new PC and i miss the money for it.

CPU: You can install a preview edition of Windows by joining the Insider's program. However it is not clear if you will be able to use that version after the general version of Windows becomes available.

TPM: This is more problematic. You need TPM 2.0. If your system never supported a TPM chip then as far as know there is no way to add it. What is the model number of your system?

None of this is official. It is just my impression based on what I have read about Win11.

Good day.

Which device do you have, please?

Model name is helpful, but in addition the machine type-model would be appreciated and very helpful. It is usually located on the same sticker as the serial number (please do not post the s/n). It may also be found by running msinfo32 and looking at the System Model line on the Summary screen.

Regards.

My PC is a Lenovo-H50-55 and is nearly 6 years old. I think there's no possibility for an upgrade. Please answer that i know what's to do.

According to Lenovo H50-50 Tower Platform Specifications this model never came with TPM. So I don't see how Win11 will work.

@ gerharddelwa ...

In addition to the TPM issue @hausman posted, have a close look at the spec sheet he has posted.

You will notice that your CPU is a gen 4, while the current requirement is 8th gen and above. In addition, the spec lists your DirectX level as 11, but Win11 requires DirectX 12.

Therefore, your PC will not likely be supported, officially, for Win11. The good news is that Win10 is fully supported for another 4 years.

The tpm.msc command brought the message: no compatible TPM found. I searched in BIOS once ore and dit it not find.

That would be because there is no TPM (security chip) in your PC.
