ThinkPad W540 and W541

2021-06-29, 3:04 AM

We have 2 W540 (STM 13.12 spec 1.2) ... and two W541.

[1]  Will these be compatible with Win 11 ??

[2]  Is the ST Microtechnology upgradeable by firmware to spec 2.0

The ST web site seem to infer that their chip is upgradeable.

The issue I have, is that MS mentions the compatible CPU, but had no list of CPU that DEFINITELY will not be compatible.

W540 (which was released in 2013) does not have TPM 2.0, and the TPM 1.2 cannot be upgraded.  You can contact Microsoft to find out what hardware will be compatible or not.

According to Lenovo Support I already been discussing with. Our W540 Workstation Laptops mine is the W541 will not be updated with the October 2014 version of TPM 2.0What I find weird is that our Newer Laptops of 2018 has an old TPM version, and the new one was already available since October 2014.
