Windows 11 general availability starting on Oct 5

2021-09-01, 11:58 AM

Windows 11 available on October 5

Today, we are thrilled to announce Windows 11 will start to become available on October 5, 2021. On this day, the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for purchase.

Note however from Microsoft announces Windows 11 will release on October 5 for new and existing PCs

Microsoft has announced that Android app support, a blockbuster feature announced during the Windows 11 unveiling event, won't be shipping this year. The company says the feature will go into preview with Insiders in the coming months, meaning we likely won't see the feature generally available until sometime in 2022.

There will also be the possibility to create a usb stick with Media Creation Tool for windows 11 , or at least an official ISO starting with 5 october ?

With Windows Update it can take a long time to reach all eligible users.

Some articles are saying that yes, those in a hurry can upgrade by these means.

With Windows Update it can take a long time to reach all eligible users.

That's a feature, not a bug. (IMO ;))

I have been using Windows 11 starting with the developer version.

My blog has tons of helpful posts for all cases of Windows 11

I will be here to help users but most Lenovo machines have some issues with the BIOS exposing enough functionality to allow Windows 11 to even install.

I think that Windows 11 is still damp. I need a stable OS as I am doing firmware development. Therefore, I remain a user of Windows 10, which works stably.

Exactly. I don't understand the rush to upgrade. I've installed new major releases before as soon as they came out. It often wasn't a pleasant experience. So no I'd rather let others do the "pioneering."
