Re: Windows 7 Install
My Disc that I created from the Recovery Partition does not work. My Laptop is out of warranty and the Hard Drive is dead. I would like the Windows 7 CD so I can install Windows onto my new Hard Drive. I have the Product Key.

Hello.
Do you have a Windows 7 C.O.A. (Certificate of Authenticity) sticker on the back of your laptop or under your battery? If so, that is what you must use for activation. A product key reported by a key finder program may be a Volume Licensing key used by Lenovo to do mass installations which will not work for activation using this method of installation.
By the way, I do not work for Lenovo nor Microsoft. I am just a fellow Lenovo laptop owner taking some time to help you. If you would like me to help you will have to take a moment to provide more specific details. Things such as 7-digit type/model number and product ID on back of laptop, type of C.O.A. key and number such as "x15-53895" on the sticker, screen shot of exact error message, which filename/ edition of Windows 7 you downloaded, etc. would be helpful.

Your feedback helps us improve!Hi John, and welcome to the Forum!
Once you have a valid Windows 7 key you have every right to download the corresponding Windows 7 software from the following official Microsoft link: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_install/can-i-download-ms-windows-7-from-microsoftcom-and/0d8e52d1-0637-4bbd-ba53-4ecc072df338?msgId=0dd2b398-cd8d-4f32-afb6-b3198fcd02ec. This is the one genuine download location I am aware of right now. Note that you may have to use the phone activation option. Don't be intimidated. It's just a robotic voice/ automated system which requires you to punch in a bunch of numbers.
Heed my advice in the following two threads: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-Discussion/Where-can-I-get-a-copy-of-Windows-7-if-I-have-a-product-key/m-p/1061871#M11904
and http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-Discussion/Win-7-Product-key-not-working/m-p/1024331#M11851
The other link quoted in these threads has either been removed, altered or relocated, so use the first link above to download the appropriate edition of Windows which matches your key (choose 32-bit "x86" or 64-bit version). These are large DVD "ISO" files (will not fit on a CD), so follow the instructions to burn the software to a blank DVD and keep it in a safe place in case you ever have to re-install Windows 7 again. You never know when "they" (TPTB, who forget the rest of Romans 13:1, and Who the real Boss is), may decide to pull those links and make it hard for folks like you and I to download a legitimate copy of Windows 7 to activate the legitimate Windows 7 keys we've purchased or which came with laptops which we spent our hard-earned money to purchase...
I thought I had the Win 7 Product Key. I used Belar Advisor and it returned all of my Software product keys including Windows. I burned a DVD from the ISO provided, but now Windows will not activate !!!

Your feedback helps us improve! That was it !! The key was under the battery. Thank You so much for your help. Windows is activated and I can move forward now !!!
Hello everybody,
Thank you for you help. My question is the same in it : "New hard drive without recovery option possible, no more warranty, I have the windows key but not the CD installation". After asking microsoft, they said that my windows product is on an pre-installed computer, in fact my ThinkCenter Edga 92z Lenovo, and due to this they can give me the authorization to download the iso file of windows.
On the other hand, I can't reach Lenovo support for this. For this reason, I come to you to get your help and advise me on the way to get the iso WIndows 7 Pro OA (X16-96076).
Thank you in advance for it.
Nicolas
I also have the key but not getting the .iso image. help me with it.
