Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2009-11-17, 15:03 PM

Hi.

For the record. Nothing yet. No update, no email, no reponse to my "contact us", no DVD, no nothing.

Should I submit the order again?

PS: JaneL - fancy going on a date :-)

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2009-11-17, 17:59 PM

My credit card was charged on November 2, yet my order is still showing as pending fulfillment.  At this point, I have purchased a copy of Windows 7 elsewhere and just want a refund for a product that has not shipped.  I called Mentor Media and was given the speech about how their website states that no refunds are allowed.  I reminded the lady that their website also states that your credit card will not be charged until the order has shipped to no avail.  This is extremely frustrating.  My agreement with them was that I would receive my disk and would be charged once it was on the way to me.  It is unacceptable to bill me and 2 weeks later still not have sent my product to me.  Mentor Media tells me to contact Lenovo, Lenovo tells me to contact Microsoft.  If they had shipped the order when I was billed as promised, this would all be a moot point because I would not have had to purchase the software elsewhere.

I'm in the same situation. I requested the upgrade on 18th October, here's my status:

Order No                LENOVO04*****
Order Status          Fulfillment in progress

Payment Status     Pass (Payment Made)
Payment Date        Wednesday, November 04, 2009

I even sent a mail on 26th October to ask about the expected time of arrival. In the automated response there's written "you will hear from us within 1-3 business days." but I never got anything back!

Instead of paying for the EUR 17.61 shipment charges, they should pay me for the time I'm waiting!

The Lenovo banner on the Belgian website says "Windows 7 Upgrade the easy way". How dare them!!!

Unfortunately the Thinkpad is not for myself, otherwise I would have installed Linux and life was really easy!

Well, my page on the upgrade site changed to 'Upgrade in Progress'.

Then I got an email, from which I will quote the most relevant notice:

Concerning the delivery of the Windows 7 Upgrade Kit, we are working extended hours to deliver the kit to you, however, it may still take up to 3-4 weeks to reach you.

So, by Christmas, maybe, the postal service package that cost $17 to send may arrive. Or not.

Hang in there everyone!  Again, I purchased my computer in JULY, charged on OCT 25th, email confirmation NOV 16th.

Confirmed with tracking number that the upgrade media has SHIPPED on the 16th via UPS, and is now in route to USPS for handling the last leg.  Handoff appears to be Rancho Cucamonga, CA.   Like many of you, I already bought Windows 7 full license separately, but for $17, I think its worth to upgrade one of the other Thinkpads.

Mine has changed to "Ready to Ship".

No doubt my 16 Euro has only bought me a slot on the next carrier pigeon flight, therefore maximising the profit for Mentor/Lenovo/MS et al, so might ask someone to buy me the upgrade for Christmas rather than hold my breath.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

Long time lurker here, but very saddened by both the Lenovo upgrade situation.

I requested my upgrade on August 11, and it was billed on October 25, but it never shipped, and states "Fulfillment in Progress."   This is a violation of the terms of my purchase contract, which stated I would only be billed upon shipping.

I purchased a retail copy and installed it, and requested an order cancellation from Mentor.

I also received the "speech" from Lenovo's chosen business partner Mentor Media that although they did not honor the terms of the purchase contract, I must honor the payment.

Since I am an patent attorney (and closet tech geek) and admitted to the bar in the third district of NY, I am considering filing suit against Lenovo, Mentor, Microsoft, etc., regarding my $17.03.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

My dell recently died after 15 months suddently and I started hating dell from that day.

Then I bought a Lenovo and the laptop order fulfillment was nonsense...anyway....why do I have to pay 17 dollars for DVD shipping for the Windows 7 FREE upgrade program.

Is 17 dollars considered free?

I shipped one home DVD to Singapre and it cost be 3 dollars. Shipping a DVD from North Carolina to Georgia costs 17 dollars.

Now I hate LEnovo and would not recomned buying their laptops. Can we sue them?

The 20 LBS laptop was shipped for FREE and they charge 17 dollars for 2 OZ DVD. Shame on Lenovo.

I'll never buy their laptop ever again and I though Dell was cheap. Lenovo beats Dell is cheapness and dishonesh tactics by far.
