upgrade to win7 pro

I bought an idea center K330 with win 7 Home Premium a few months ago.

I retired my old computer that is running win 7 pro.

How do I move the win 7 pro program from my old computer to my new computer without losing anything in my new computer? I have the original win 7 pro cd.

Re: upgrade to win7 pro

Are you looking to migrate your user account and settings or the complete system including installed applications and data?

If you mean the first, because you're going to clean install to avoid driver conflict problems, you could use Windows easy Transfer.

If you mean the second it can get quite complicated, you will need to provide more information about the installation and was the Windows pre-installed by the computer manufacturer?

P.S. the forum can be a little quiet at weekends, a lot of members have other things to do Smiley Wink

Re: upgrade to win7 pro

I have the original win7 pro cd from my old computer. So I assume that upgrading my new Lenovo would be relatively easy. How do I remove the win7 home image and write a cd so I can transfer that os to my old computer? Also, how do I replace the os image on the Lenovo disk with win7 pro. I have both computers backed up but I would rather not have to use the backups.

Re: upgrade to win7 pro

I hope I understood your question.

I'm afraid you cannot use your license of your old computer to your new computer, or switch them. Probably you have a OEM license that goes with that single computer.

I'm just a volunteer. I like to help others where I can. Do my ideas work? I hope so. o_O

You probably can't, without losing anything ...

Is the Win7 Pro disk you have a Microsoft retail version, or did it come with your old computer?
