Please try a google search for antivirus 2009. You´ll find plenty of entries.

I recommend Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware

I have found this is the best anti-malware for Antivirus 2009. If that doesn't solve it, only a system restore will bring your system back =(. Good luck!

Re: Antivirus 2009

I got a call from my parents with this same issue. It had been a few years since I worked in IT and was de-spywaring dozens of machines (all Dell's too, hehe :P ), but gave it a shot.

I've always had really good luck with Microsoft's Windows Defender - it is actually a great piece of software in my experience, and free.

A good first step is to clear all of your internet cache files (in case there are any infected files stored there that could re-install the malware) and I believe also the system restore points - I didn't do this with Antivirus 2009, but as I recall it is good precaution.

Boot into safe mode (press F8 before you see the Windows loading screen) after you have installed Windows Defender and run it from safe mode. I would suggest running a Quick Scan, removing all malware, rebooting, and repeating this until the Quick Scan finds nothing else. Then do a final reboot & run a full deep scan to confirm everything is gone.

This worked for me at least, hope it helps.

P.S. I'm moving this thread to the proper forum.

I'll second the recommendation for Malwarebytes Anti Malware. It works well on this infection. Sometimes you have to run it in safe mode if the infection is bad.

@Tim_Lenovo

Yes, it appears to be a "parents" problem, my parents had have this little thing, too.:smileyhappy:

This darn thing delete the windows restore points for you. Quite handy isn´t it.

We had a big discussion on this issue on thinkpad-forum.de.

The user there said, after cleaning, the problem was solved,

and then.after some time, it would be back again. :smileyhappy:

Hopefully, our user here, has got some better cleaning experience.

Edit: Yes, MalwareBytes seems a solution, to the german user, too.
