Re: Doly Audio driver cannot start after upgrading to Windows 8.1

2013-12-29, 1:12 AM

After updating my Z710 to Win 8.1, I found that audio output was not working via HDMI. I updated the IDT Audio driver using the link on the Lenovo site. and HDMI audio was okay. However, now I can an error message "Unable to start the Dolby audio driver". By going back to the orginal IDT Audio driver, I am able to get Dolby Digital again, but then I have the same problem with the HDMI audio output.

I could not find anything on the Lenovo site, so I'm wondering if there's an updated Dolby audio driver out there some where that will fix this problem?

Thanks.

Re: Doly Audio driver cannot start after upgrading to Windows 8.1

My Situation:

Lenovo S5 S540 with Realtek HD Audio Device

OS: Win 8, upgraded to 8.1

Result after reinstalling Lenovo Realtek Driver v 6.0.1.70406.0.1.7040:

Audio device ist working correctly.

Dolby is working, but with "Dolby Digital Plus". I can switch it onliy "on" and "off", there are nowhere settigs for tihs software.

Dolby Home Theater v4 i can boot. In this case I can see the interface of this software. I can switch it on and off, but anyway, it doesn't work. I tryed to reinstall the software and to press the repair-button in the install-interface, it didn't make any changes.

Question to the community: how can I make the software working? How it ist posssible, to connect the Hometheatre with the Realtek device?

Pretty much the same problem as the others. Upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit to Windows 8.1 Eneterprise 64bit and now this is what happened.

As you can see there's some music playing, but DHT doesn't detect any sound and the audio configuration/properties buttons are inactive.

Yes, I have uninstalled the new crappy Dolby Digital-something and installed the good old V4. Last time I did this, it worked like charm (on the same laptop with the same WIn version). Also I didn't have any problems with the inactive buttons.

Solutions?

EDIT: This driver fixed it for me: http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/f805za1g.exe

I have an HP Pavillion with Lenovo

uh are you really using a Lenovo laptop?  if so what is the model number of the Lenovo computer?

this doesn't concern HP Pavilion machines.

Folks, the newer Conexant, IDT (now Tempo) and Realtek audio drivers produced in late 2013 and later seem to use the newer Dolby Digital Plus (V5) instead of the familiar Dolby V4 under Windows 8.1.  If you're having Dolby problems in Win8.1 or Win10, try using an older audio driver that is dated before July 2013 or earlier.
