Found windows s/n sticker on on second-hand thinkpad - is windows mine?

2021-04-09, 0:23 AM

Hi
As in the title. I opened the battery compartment and found a like-new windows 7 serial number. Does that make me the owner of the windows system?

I bought it with 10 preinstalled and licenced, but would want to use 7 for music making as a second system.

Is it still possible to download installers for w7 64 bit anywhere?

That is probably an OEM license, so you would have to locate an installer for the COEM version of Windows 7 to use that product key.     If it was a retail key, you cold use Microsoft's Media Creation Tool to download the Windows 7 Installer, but the OEM product key will not with the aforementioned Microsoft tool.

Thank you for your reply. Good to know of the distinction. The second group of characters in the key is four letters, not three OEM - as I read somewhere would be an indicator of OEM. It reads on the sticker windows 7 oa for lenovo. I wonder what that stands for. Would that be a 64 bit version or is there a chance this might be a 32 bit one?
