Re: G530 vs Windows 7 - can't resume from sleep

It may be working for you under win7 32bit, but for me, it sure doesn't resume from sleep. I mean, the computer itself seems to resume, it's the display that stays black...so my guess is that the video drivers might be an issue.

I'm using the 64 bit version of ubuntu with 4gb of ram and experiencing the same problem. The computer will automatically reboot when resuming from suspend. From my research unless the bios supports memory remapping 4gb with suspend will not work! Apparently its a known hardware limitation with this model.

I don't think that's true because I have Vista Ultimate 64-bit on it with 4GB and it sleeps perfectly every time.

Re: G530 vs Windows 7 - can't resume from sleep

Hey guys,

I dont know if this will help or not but I had problems resuming from sleep in win 7 (at least that was the problem i thought i was having).  I was experiencing problems from my modem of all things, but it could be any number of devices that could be causing your problem.  There are certain devices that are allowed to "wake" your pc from sleep and some of the devices having this privlege/ability cause the pc to not even enter sleep mode let alone awake from it (I think).

I thought my pc wouldn't come back from sleep mode because when i put it to sleep the screen went blank the hard drive spun down and the sleep light came on.  Then when i tried to awaken the pc by hitting the power button nothing happened.  I came to find out by reading the following article that my modem was not allowing my pc to sleep by "waking" it before it had a chance to sleep (I think this is what was happening).  So, MAYBE this is what you guys are experiencing, it's worth a shot.  I used steps five and six in the following tutorial.  Thanks to "Brink" over at vista forums for writing the post.  If your problem isn't the same as mine then you should follow the post b/c it covers a lot of sleep issues.

I haven't changed my sig yet, but i am running windows 7, 64-bit, professional on a X61 tablet and everything is working fine.

later,

This is a known issue with Windows 7.  Go into BIOS and switch your sleep mode to S1 from S3.  For some reason a lot of motherboards can't wake up from S3.  Personally I have no problem on my X200.  See if this fixes the problem for you.

Blocking issue: can't exit from sleep mode (reboot) on G530 4151/200, Windows 7 64-bit, 4 Gb RAM If only 2 Gb installed sleeping is working OK. Laptop somehow managed to wake up after I did install/uninstall of Lenovo Energy Management Tools. I noticed that there was unknown device in Device manager. But after some time (half a day) it again could not wake up. Support team please help
