Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

THe point made by pshing is a valid one. Ok, alas, business being business i would not expect lenovo to propose to all its oem vista users basis a free of charge migration to W7. But at least to come up with a OEM Vista->W7 migration path (against fees) which includes all the wealth of support software TVT technologies that make lenovo interesting compared to its peers. Failing to do so, would mean user with Vista installed would have to purchase a W7 standard version and do a full re install of everything. And what will happend in in the event where the "migrated" thinkpad needs to be launched from the recovery partition, this will be still running vista ? Not serious really. Hopefully Lenonvo will spare some time on it. Since W7 is even not in sp1 i'm not that hurried yet because i remember the joy of VU before SP1... But hopefully W7 should be better.

Wow...$30+ USD for shipping and handling of my "free" upgrade to Canada. Considering the fact that the old Windows 7 pre-order deals were $49 for a Home Premium upgrade, that's pretty harsh...

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

I am having a tough time registering for the WIN7 upgrade. The system will not allow me to enter my S/N or select a computer other than an idea or think series. I purchased a Lenovo 3000 G530 4446-24U system which specifically stated it included a free WIN7 upgrade.  Am I doing something wrong? When I click register this computer if you have trouble w/ entering the S/N, it asks for the S/N again.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a SL300 wich should be eligable for the windows7 update.

My serial number also wasn't recognised. But there is a link for a form when this happens.

My problem is.... On the first page they mention the upgrade from DUTCH windows vista to DUTCH windows 7. In the language selection form on page 3 DUTCH is not mentioned.I just can't select DUTCH. I would like to have a DUTCH windows 7 installation.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Terry

I have a client here in Australia that has a shiny new X200s with ultrabase and a couple of 22" screens attached which happens to be the reason for the purchase.

We are trying to complete the online application for the upgrade offer from windows vista business 32 .

The site is having difficulty recognising the serial number and we are stuck.

Can you help out with this one?

From the label on the base of the X200S it reads

Type 7466-35M S/N LV-00XXX 08/12

PRODUCT ID: 746635M

XXX is not actually the values here

at  http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/windows7/

and in the respective fields we type / select

Product Type -  think series

Product Type Model - 746635M omitting the hyphen

PC Serial Number -  LV00XXX  omitting the hyphen

we receive a message that the serial number is not recognised when we next try and enter the date of purchase.

OK we try and register but we receive an email from systemauto@mmedia.mis.com.sg indicating

"We regret to inform you that your product is not in our record. Please check that you have entered correct model or serial number"

TIA

Will the upgrade disks also permit the option to do a clean install of windows 7?

Question- I'm not eligible for the free upgrade and I know it. But, I am getting Windows 7 Pro through school, and I was wondering if there was a way to get JUST the appropriate T400 driver DVD from Lenovo when it comes out. I'm not a huge fan of getting all the stuff online, especially with the shape that Lenovo's driver pages are in.

actually, to find a particular driver from lenovo is not that bad. i would rate it really good if you compare the website to other companies. just follow the steps and you will get the drivers, for people has some computing background.

at least, i do not need to use google to search within lenovo's website. it may not be the case for other brands.

Cheer =)
