I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

I used the following article to change the charging thresholds for the battery in my new X1 Carbon.  While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the power management software, it does take care of my most critical need for it.

Changing Charge Threshold on ThinkPads under Windows 8 without Power Manager

But it won't work for everyone on every computer. In my S430 for example, it won't work at all...

Re: Lenovo Power Manager in Windows 8

Hi guys,

I have an Ideapad Y570.  I installed and run the previous  EM software (6.0.2.0 for Win7) in compatibility mode, and it works well!  The only one little problem is:  when I set the brightness level, the old indicator bar appears on the screen for a couple of sec, and doesn't work (just stands, doesn't move ..... the Win8 bar works good).....  But its not a big problem, I can live with it ...  So, before install do these steps:

1. Right-click on the driver installation file and click on ‘properties’.

2. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7 operating system from the drop down.

3. Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

After install:

1. Go to   ' C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\Energy Management '  folder  find the ' Energy Management.exe '  file, right click on it and in the properties menu set the compatibility mode to Windows 7. ....

2. Restart machine

3. Enjoy!  :-)

Did you ever try to de-install the Lenovo Power Manager? I was not able to do so.

Folks,

It doesn't work. Do you have another idea?

Cheers,

If I launch PWMUI from C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities after setting it in win7 compatibility mode it works in all menus. However it doesn't work from control panel/battery icon.
