right click on the desktop > select "show desktop icons"

if you are running vista, right click the applications you want to add icon to the quick lunch menu, select "pin to taskbar" or copy the shortcut to this folder "c:\users\[user name]\appdata\roaming\microsoft\internet explorer\quick launch"

for xp, copy the shortcut to this folder "c:\documents and settings\[user name]\application data\microsoft\internet explorer\quick launch" or take a look at this thread

I do not recommend registry cleaners or so-called registry boosters. As you have seen they create problems and sometimes can have disastrous effects.

A couple of options:

1. Try doing a System Restore to before the problem happened.

2. If you are using Windows XP make a restore point first in case anything goes wrong.
Next, go to  http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 195 : On the right side: Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar
Save  the script to your desktop. Double-click to run it. See if that helps.

Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing what other changes your registry booster made, so that is the best advice I can offer.

Microsoft does not, in any way signify that it deems the product as safe, nor is it an endorsement of the company or product.
While Uniblue claims to be a so-called 'Microsoft Partner" that is simply a way for the company to gain access to information that supposedly will help it be more efficient conducting its business using Microsoft products.
