Thank you, santabrina - your Catalyst installer worked perfectly on my T400 with Windows 8 64-bit.

Re: T400 Switchable Graphics and Windows 8

Sharing my experience with all T400 Windows 8 users.

Windows 8

Sentabrina custom W7 with old Catalyst installer worked for me as well, on Windows 8 x64, just follow the instruction.

Windows 8.1

When I upgraded to windows 8.1 everything FALLS apart if you install the lenovo power manager 6.32 or 6.34. After clean upgrade to 8.1 and then install the power manager, the system will refuse to boot citing some security doesn't match. I had to clean reinstall from windows 8->windows 8.1 twice.

The solution is to NOT install the power manager. Just clean install windows 8->8.1 then Sentabrina custom W7 drivers. After that, head over to ATI and download the latest drivers 8.970.100.7000 dated 16/11/2012 for the T400 Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series drivers (Windows 8). After installation, Switchable graphics is active which I guess is now build into the Windows 8.1 (hence no requirement for lenovo power manager).

However, the latest drivers seem to have a bug with secondary monitors and boot up with a 4:3 screen on my 24 inch Samsung widescreen monitor 1920x1200 resolution. I have to manually expand the screen using the ATI catalyst control center everytime I boot up.

Different subject, moved to own thread.
USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

This repacking has some bugs and screen flickers from different areas after update. All people having this flickering issue need to update their drivers through Device Manager using Search automatically for updated driver software. So their ATI display driver will be updated to Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family and will work properly.

Newly updated driver properties are:-

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies
Driver Date: 5/4/2012
Driver Version: 8.792.5.2000
Driver Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

Update 7 September 2014 of - Sharing my experience with all T400 Windows 8 user dated 11-14-2013 10:28 AM

I had to do a clean install of my window 8.1 and spend 2 days solving various issues, finally success and figured out why previously windows 8.1 crash with power manager. Because power manager requires .NET 3.5 AND windows 8 and 8.1 starts with .NET 4.5 by default and disable .NET 3.5, if you do the above, the system will refuse to boot. The solution I found was to install windows 8, then go to control-panel->programs->Turn Windows features on or off->Tick the .NET 3.5 and let it install (you can google this and there are lots of guide how to).

After that, update windows 8 with ALL The updates (about 102 of them) and when success, upgrade to windows 8.1. With that, you can follow the steps to get all the switcahble graphics working, with power manager 6.32 active
