T61 upgrade to WIN 7

2010-11-23, 15:14 PM

Hi. I am considering upgrading our T61 Wista Business (32 bit-2 Mb ram) installation to Windows 7. Having noticed the increased battery time - what other advantages are there? When upgrading (new installing) to x64 version - I suppose that one can address upto 8 Mb Ram, or??

standard memory: 512 mb  (removable) or 1 gb  (removable) or 2 gb  (removable)

maximum memory: 3 gb  with windows vista 32-bit or 8 gb  with windows vista 64-bit

expansion: 2 sockets

cpu & chipset: intel core 2 duo,intel pm965,intel core 2 duo,intel gm965

bus architecture: flash - sdhc; pc card; ssd - sata 2.5-inch; usb

mfgr's system p/n's: 6460-xxx; 6461-xxx; 6462-xxx

comments: notebooks with 32-bit operating systems, if 4gb is installed, the recognized memory may be reduced to 3.5gb or less (depending on system configuration and memory allocation). notebooks with 64-bit operating systems, can recognize the full 8gb.
