Responses from MS fanbois are perfectly aligned with their publicly stated position, on WIn 8 take up, that vendors have let them down, but the reality is that there are a lot vendors who have been caught out by Microsoft's behavior.
Here's (yet another) independent commentary on that from Business Week......
Sinofsky wanted the Windows division to keep driving Microsoft, yet he didn’t seem prepared to do the grunt work to pull it off, the executives say. Windows 8 arrived with a meager selection of applications—nothing from Facebook, Dropbox, and other heavyweights. Microsoft insiders attribute this to Sinofsky’s unwillingness to reach out to partners and drum up interest. Executives from the large PC makers have complained of similar treatment. His focus seemed to be more on Microsoft’s internal operations than on building a relationship with the PC makers, says one former Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) executive.http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-11-12/microsoft-shows-its-windows-chief-the-door#p1

Re: ThinkPad software for Windows 8

Hello,

Speaking as someone who works at a small software company as his day job, I know that my colleagues have been working for a long time on support for Windows 8.  That said, we have come across issues that simply were not discovered during the testing cycle because the particular scenario which exercised the issue didn't happen during all of the internal and external testing we did.  Sometimes, the amount of code required is very small, but it can still take a lot of time to verify the fix, especially if it very difficult-to-reproduce scenario.

Hi! I've upgraded my Lenovo T530 to a windows pro 8. Don't you have problems with the power manager software? The gauge is showing and I can rightclick on it and change the options, but if I try and open the actual program it doesn't respond. I´really wish these essential apps will work for Windows 8 soon.

Changing the battery charge threshold on Windows 8 is still possible by changing some registry values.  I've posted the procedure on another thread here.

Thanks wsko, the program worked fine yesterday, for some reason. If it fails again it's nice to know one still can make changes with your method. I'm starting to get used to Windows 8 and love how fast it is, these startproblems were expected when I did the upgrade as I've always been the first to jump aboard the next big thing :)

Edit: Oh and if anyone experience problems wih kernel data inpage error bsod on startup after hibernation, you need to set your pagefile to 1,5x or double the size of your ram. Worked for me on both a Lenovo and Vaio running Windows 8.

Just installed an update through Systems Updates which is very incouraging as it's a sign that Lenovo is working towards compatibility with Windows 8. It takes time and I'm confident that everything which is not compatible at the present moment will eventually be resolved.

There does not seem to be any Lenovo updates for Windows 8.  Except for unexpected shutdowns seems OK.  I Hate to call windows t\support and not sure any way other way to find out if all if all Lenovo support should be deleted.

I certainly agree no reason not to buy Windows 8 now.  Look for $29.99.  You will certainly use it someday and I am totally frustrated with it at the moment.

There is a way to direct distribution of a Metro style app:

Why the Lenovo does not follow it?
