Re: ThinkPad software for Windows 8

If this darn Lenovo Settings Modern UI apps need to be installed from the Store via a Lenovo preload of Windows 8, then how the hell is any corporate customer going to deploy it???

Unless of course MS + Lenovo actually believe nobody in he corporate world would want to deploy Windows 8! :(

Re: ThinkPad software for Windows 8

Is anybody else getting awful battery life with Windows 8?

The 6-cell on my X220 has reduced its battery life from around 6.5 hours with Windows 7 to under 4.5 hours on Windows 8.

Now, what I want to know is if this happens on the X230 running Windows 8 as well.

I just updated my X220 to Win8 and found that the fan is spinning more than it used to.

Hi

I've got T420 laptop.

I've got official Lenovo support and warranty.

I've got  MS upgrade to win8 and as far as I understand, Lenovo says, that my laptop REALLY supports win8.

But I cannot get all the benefits of special business-class software, that Lenovo provides for their products.

I'm NOT happy about that.

Could anyone pleese let me understand the official Lenovo position here?

I need Power manager and Hotkey manager right now.

I have to use win7 apps with compatibility mode. Can I be shure, it works correctly?

The power manager for win 7 works as it did in win 7.

Lenovo is working with Microsoft to solve the issue of non preload computers accessing lenovo apps. It is my understanding that it is a Microsoft issue and other oems are having similar issues. I'm hoping that it will be resolved soon.

Well I'm not intersted in this Lenovo Settings Metro app with its reduced functionality, anyway,

I want Lenovo to update the classic ThinkVantage apps (Access Connections and Power Manager) to work properly in Windows 8, with updates handled by System Update.

As far as I can see, couple hours ago I did some investigations about Power Manager's issue under Win8 Pro installed from scratch, Lenovo really can sort it out and provide their customers working desktop version of the app. Even I could do this.

I can't understand why Lenovo tell us about having issues with publishing this app, but as I looked into decompiled version - it really can work under Win8.

@lordzorg

What issue?  I am using the Win7 version of Power Manager on Win8 and I cannot find any problems with it.  The only problem is that I cannot update it with System Update, as far as I can see.
