What error does it give you?

After clicking "View in Windows Store," I get this:

alright, but its in the store now, and hopefully we'll have it soon. Then I can permanantly update to windows 8.

: Does that mean that users of upgraded Lenovo laptops will get this app? That would be awesome, inestead of having to force the old apps to install.

Thanks for your reply.

Could you also post the FEATS of the software? I noticed most Lenovo software is lacking description.

Re: ThinkPad software for Windows 8

Yeah, it says it's not available for my system (x201). I'm not too upset about it yet - I got the old Power Manager running under Windows 8.

I'm betting the issue is that either Microsoft (or Lenovo) want the Lenovo app to be limited to just Lenovo systems. Microsoft may actually want that to prevent people with other vendors' computers from messing up their systems. I can't see Lenovo really caring too much.

However, the way that Microsoft assumed an app would be limited tied to a vendor's systems isn't actually WMI detais about the computer - like who made it, or what model, or whether it has that prerequisite support package installed  - but rather the edition/supplier of WIndows. So if it's not a Lenovo OEM copy of Windows 8, no app. So Enterprise customers (if any of them actually want Windows 8) are going to end up having to side-load the Lenovo app anyway, if Lenovo eventually makes it available as a package. And anyone who has upgraded can't actually get the application. And editions of Windows below Pro can't side-load Modern UI apps, and you need a developer agreement to do it as an indivudal. SIde-loading someone else's software isn't a valid use of a developer agreement.

I may have one or two details wrong, but I'm betting that's essentially what happened. What they SHOULD have done is provided vendors like Lenovo with the ability to provide lists of models that an application applies to. If they were concerned about exposing WMI information without user consent, they could just prompt.

LENOVO - I see that APP in the Metro store in IE, but when I try to view it in the App store app, it says unavailable.  When are you going to finally make this available for us who have older computers?  It would be one thing if Windows 8 was just released but it has been months now and still no proper support for the new OS.  We all payed $$$ for your hardware, for me, just 6 months before Windows 8 was released, knowing that I would probably upgrade to windows 8 when It became available.  Since I run a small business, not being able to use my computer the way that it was originally intended to be used is an extreme nuisance.  I don't have the luxury of being crippled either.

For those out there who have a W520 or a T410 or T420 that have, since YOU stated that it would be supported, bought a copy of Windows 8, installed it, and were left hung out waiting for device support software, we are going to seriously reconsider buying another Lenovo again.  This is true even for some of us that have owned a Lenovo since before they were even owned by Lenovo.  Instead, what we see from you at Lenovo is a press release that you are changing Part number formats.... SERIOUSLY, would you put a little less time into that and a bit more time into getting the Lenovo Settings app fixed for those of us who are your current Loyal customers?

Would someone from Lenovo PLEASE RESPOND about the status of Lenovo Settings for users that installing a new copy of Windows 8 on a computer that SUPPORTS it.

Go read the previous page!

In general, its a good idea to read the thread before you post (even if its 18 pages.)

Is it just for systems that are being up'ed to 8 or does it include systems that ship with 8? I ordered a E430 with 8 and would like to know if these softwares are preloaded.
