Re: ThinkPad software for Windows 8

2013-02-20, 23:20 PM

March. Since October. Now March.  Over something so simple. Why?

I have SWORN by Lenovo since they carried the IBM name. My company is 100% Dell and I keep my group on Lenovo. That is, until this debacle and the terrible ThinkPad Android Tablets. My last two experiences with Lenovo have been big promises with lackluster performance followed by deafening silence to all complaints.

Lenovo, please will you tell us why you have not released these settings applications for Windows 8. I can tell you that I am no longer a fan of the brand and will consider other options on my next purchases.

I still don't see why it's lenovos fault that microsoft is dragging its feet on allowing the app for everyone.

@Fullmetal99012: that is defined by the app publisher, not the Store.

OEM apps being only available to OA 3.0 computers is microsofts decision. they have the ultimate say as to what goes in the store.

Lenovo could mark the app for download by all and then prevent crashes at runtime by checking for some breadcrumb, or they could offer as a direct download. Or post something as beta. ANYTHING except the silence...

I'm totally fed up with Lenovo.

Has anybody seen the new ThinkBook Pro T431s?

Lenovo has become a company making cheap Chinese Apple MacBook knockoffs and part of this strategy is shedding all the IBM ThinkVantage legacy, keyboard and trackpoint.

There's little left to differentiate from all the other OEMs trying to emulate Apple.

I guess some things are on the eye of the beholder.

I totally love the new keyboards and touchpads. I always hated the trackpoint. And the T431s looked very promising to me.

I believe the Edge line to be one of the best. This is my third Edge. The old ThinkPads were to bulky for my taste.

Yeah... waiting since November for proper software wich is constantly "developed in few weeks" is kind a frustrating.

But lets not lose hope - im sure Lenovo will keep eyes on this forum and particulary notices this topic as it is one of the most dicussed in win 8 folder. Nevertheless it emits bad signals for future and so far loyal clients.

So, perhaps they finally decide to release it for all Win8 upgrade capable Lenovo computers to download - even if only  to show that they are providing reliable support to their clients, as they had provided it in the past :)
