Shown up for my x201 as well, but now the settings dependency driver is failing with a "Must be installed on Lenovo Thinkpad" error. Other people with other models (saw someone with an X1C) are seeing this as well.

I had the same problem when I downloaded the settings dependency pack from the lenovo website. However, when I later tried installing the pack with the lenovo system update it worked just fine.

Update: Whatever I installed is not recognized as Lenovo Settings Dependency Pack by the new Lenovo Settings App. It tells me to install the lates driver, when I click on that message it downloads the dependency pack installer and I get the the same error as before. I'm on an Edge E330.

Yup. MaKes you wonder if they actually tested it before it goes up on the web site. Older versions of that driver actually did install. Ironic that they broke it just as they actually made the tool that relies on it available to everyone.

Does anyone have the Fn-F3 or Fn-F8 key combo working on Windows 8? I don't care much about Fn-F3, but Fn-F8 is very useful for enabling and disabling the touchpad.

I'm using an X220 with the Lenovo Settings app I just installed from the store. Fn-F6 now brings me to the camera menu, when before it would pop up the error message saying Lenovo Settings is not installed.

Hi

I now have three Dependency packages only one of which installs.  Dependencypackage.exe 1.5.23.0 runs OK

The app directs me to download settingsdependency.exe 1.1.0.0 and  settingsdependencytp.exe 1.1.0.18 both of which give error must be run on Thinkpad.  My Thinkpad is an E 520.  The Lenovo settings app does not run.

Re: ThinkPad software for Windows 8

I installed the Lenovo Settings on my L420 with mSATA SSD 525. Thru the Settings I also installed the latest Lenovo eDependency Package. The event log was full off errors: Reset of the disk driver, DISK Errors, DCOM Errors, Chrome error entries, Firefox error entries. I have neither Chrome nor Firefox. Removing the two packages was the only cure.

Does Lenovo test any piece of software before releasing it? Very poor QA. The same happens with the Hotkey Feature Integration Package. No speaker light on the L420. No Access to Fn-F8. They never loaded it on an L420.

Is there an email address to complain? I could not find anything. My fear is that Lenovo has no SW bug reporting system and no complaint handling.

Michael
