Re: Win 7 upgrade program - delivery updates

2009-11-15, 9:14 AM

I read somewhere that Mentor Media were "surprised" by the amount of upgrade kits ordered. I read somewhere else that they "expanded" their support staff to help deal with the amount of calls/emails sent to them. Why don't they figure out how to ship the kits as soon as possible? Instead of wasting money to put more of the staff behind the phone? And didn't they say that they were going to email everyone regarding the situation? Putting money to do that would, at least, give us some kind of assurance. I haven't recieved a single thing. It shouldn't be hard anyway. Why can't they simply do a mass mailing of what the heck is going on to all of the customers?

And those who said something about them using cheap shipping methods, what are you talking about? Does it really take more than 3 weeks to ship something as small a disc, even if the customer lives in the States? Didn't think so.

Mentor Media will surely go out of business sooner or later. The fact that they can't do little simple things tells me that they do not have any common sense.

In regards to the "cheap" shipping methods, Mentor Media are using the post to ship the discs to some regions. For example the discs which are shipped to Australia come via post from Hong Kong.
Mentor media are charging USD 25 to ship the “free” upgrade discs to Australia. My upgrade discs have been  sitting at the Hong Kong Post office for more then a week, before they finally departed Hong Kong for Australia.

I feel like raising a complaint with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission about the "free" upgrade. It’s against the law in Australia to advertise something as being “free” and then place a charge on the item.

To top things off, the upgrade discs which we eventually are going to be provided with do NOT contain the Lenovo Enhanced Experience tweaks and optimisations (eg changes to the OS to improve boot up times). Only brand new PCs purchased after the 22nd October which have Windows 7 preloaded on the system contain the tweaks and optimisations. Refer to these links for more information:

I feel ripped off paying for a "free" upgrade that lacks the features of a normal Windows 7 preload system.

Re: Win 7 upgrade program - delivery updates

I am very surprised that my msg have been removed from the page 44, where I have requested people to send a mail to refund their money from Mentor Media and Lenovo !

This is chocking that, this forum is protected by some interest for Lenovo and Mentor Media. It is amazing that my msg is just deleted because of a criticism of the bad service provided by Lenovo and Mentor Media.

On page 44 the last answer is to my request as proof, where he writes that he will send a letter tomorrow.

It is a shameful stuation for a forum like this to do something like this.

I request to restore my msg at same place and demand not to do things like that.

Thanks

Raja

The message was deleted and will not be restored because it violated the following forum rule:

No vendetta posts, or online campaigning. It is acceptable to state concern for how a particular Lenovo policy, performance, or procedure does or does not meet the expectation of a particular member, but it is not acceptable to use this forum in an attempt to broadly organize or incite members en mass, to cancel orders, return systems, undertake legal action or otherwise disrupt the normal business processes of Lenovo.

that is very disapointing. i am NOT telling anybody to take legal action. i simply said that writing a letter to lenovo may help the proceses move forward. the people who acculy make these choices need to know our disapoiintment with them. they do not read these blogs. so again how did this violate the terms of use?
