I just have a quick question -I found out through my bank they have already taken the money from my bank and I got the email to say they have succesfully got my payment but that is the last I heard, should I expect the upgrade soon?  I am sorry if this is a repeat post.

That depends on your definition of "soon". Some/many are in the same situation as you and they have been waiting since Oct 22nd when Win 7 went public.

Cathy,

When they take the money from your bank, all that means is that you have $17 less in your account.  It doesn't mean they will ship it anytime soon.  They seem to have a "yeah, yeah, we'll get to it, when we get to it" attitude.  At least thats what the results indicate.

I would not expect the free upgrade "soon", even though they took your money.  This is based on my experience and those that have posted here.

A couple of questions:

What does "WW" mean in your post?

How can I insure that my order is entered correctly with all the right model/serial numbers or whatever?

Of course, I got my Proof of Purchase (10/15/09) which should indicate everything is okay.  Payment deducted on 11/25.   But I have zero confidence that either Lenovo or MM are handling Value Line Series laptops properly.

In fact, they are never even acknowledged as actually existing as far as I can tell.   Even tech support seems to have little info on them.

I have responded to every request for additional information but my Model # is still N/A and in spite of your assurance that MM is catching up on responding to emails and such,  I have yet to receive any such communications.

That's interesting, I just got a shipping e-mail for my Y450, not that I actually care about any Lenovo software, but that's interesting, I wonder what I will get (and when I will get it).

So just for those interested, my payment was taken November 21st, I've only once contacted MM and that was via the e-mail enquiry thing and quite a long time ago (beginning of November if memory serves) and never saw a response. So, approx 10 days between money taken and shipping e-mail.

While this upgrade process has sucked, I've watched a number of the Windows "Free" upgrades, and they all seem to have sucked in one form or another, I wasn't desparate for the upgrade (actually using the free windows 7 version when I boot into the Windows environment at all).

Had I been desparate for Windows 7, and ordered pre-October 22nd expecting to recieve the upgrade shortly after October 22nd I probably would have been pissed.

Thank you for all that are helping me-

And maybe this will give you hope, I just received a email letting me know that my package has shipped through UPS and should be here in 3-5 days :smileyhappy:  So I will let everyone know when I have received it, but I believe that all of yours who are waiting will be shipped soon as well :)

RCW,

I was trying to provide a more optomistic / fair (depending on one's point of view) explaination about our progress.  Some distribution centers may have shipped more idea upgrades than others so while the US might, for example have shipped comparatively few Idea upgrades, China might be well underway.

I share your thoughts on Value Line - we should update the registration site to provide that as a clear option when registering.  I also did not mean to imply customer fault regarding an complications with the data.  There could be some "user error" , but I agree that more could be done to ensure we got the right information during registration.

I apologize again that this has been frustrating for you.

Someone asked about W700 ThinkPad upgrades - I'm not aware of any issues with ThinkPad at the moment, or anything unique about a W700 model that should hold things up.

Mark

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

I am NOT (**EDIT) in any way mad about this as well. I bought my PC strictly because i needed a new pc and for the price compared to the rest of the computers over at frys at the time along with whats inside it was a no brainer! And i stand by that decision because my desktop has just been a champ.

I didnt know about the free upgrade offer until a worker asked if needed help, and i said i looked into the pcs ahead of time and i want to pick "this" one. He said oh well it comes with a free win 7 upgrade as well when it comes out....added bonus!

Long story short, i wasnt expecting anything from the PC other the mail in rebate, but getting a free OS update, hey im all for it. And not get upset what so ever.

I woke up today to find 2 emails from MM indicating my Win 7 has shipped. Both emails referenced the same tracking number.

PC Model: TP W700

Win 7 Upgrade ordered: 11/17/2009
