Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2009-12-14, 22:47 PM

Upgrading a system isn't the same as a new computer sold with windows 7

I am sure that we will get the upgrade eventually and again I made calls and sent emails just to be told 3-4 weeks it's been a long wait I'm just sharing my experience so that maybe it will keep someone from  dealing with the aggravation because no matter how pushy I have been as well as understanding and nice neither approach has worked to speed up the process

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

I did a windows 7 compatability check on my Ideapad Y550, and most all of the programs on it were not compatable. I really do think that is the reason for the delay. Wish someone from Lenovo would come right out and say what the real issue is. Even if I got the disks by January, I must admit I will wait till bugs with drivers etc. are worked out with Lenovo until I download. 6 months maybe? LOL. I do wish that they could send the disks that they are sending the folks who ordered Win.7 and got Vista. I noticed that they are getting them quickly.  Why are we not in that category? I was promised just as good a system when I purchased in August. I could have bought the same model now, cheaper with EE Win.7? Boy was that a mistake! Should have waited.

I was part of the Vista group, and I still have not received Windows 7. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and that allowed to get in touch with a human at Lenovo. That hasn't helped me get a copy of Windows 7, but it has given me a human being to talk to who will lie to me on a weekly basis. I suppose that makes me better off.

I think that lenovo has more of a problem with the upgrade then most realize I think the cut off date for the free upgrade is in January and since they are having a tough time gathering the correct serial numbers is concerning my computer is the 3000 ...G530 it has been called the 3000 line the value line and the idea line I really don't know what system I truly have I'm glad that I kept the box that the computer came in along with the sales receipt now after hearing about your experience after calling the BBB I wonder if we are just being stalled until the cut off date in January and then will be told that since we were unable to supply a 10 or 15 digit serial number then the order is incomplete and will not be filled

I just want to be told the truth now so that I can either  buy another computer or shop around for software now and be able to take advantage of a few sales

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

All,

I've heard the comments  that it has been difficult to register the Value Line models because there wasn't a choice from the first screen.   To make registration easier, we have updated the site to note Ideaproducts & value line as an option together, and then this pull down to select models.  Here, I'm selecting the G550 Valueline model.

Not only will this make it easier to register, but will help expedite delivery on future orders as well.

We have upwards of 9 different driver disks for the Ideaproducts and some orders have proven difficult to determine which model series disk to include based on information entered when the upgrade was originally registered.  We have worked through the majority of these over the last week, readying them to ship.

Overall, we have now shipped about 25% of the Idea Win 7 upgrade shipments.

Thanks for the continued patience.

Best regards,

Mark

How, if at all, does this information that you provided help those of us that have supposedly been registered since September and paid since Oct 25?

Is this a mechanism that we can use to correct our orders?

I personally am not at all sure what my order status is?   Calling the MM hotline or checking the online status pages gives no satisfaction or validation that my order is correct, in spite of repeated submissions of every document requested.

If we can use the screen you've displayed,  please provide a link so we know where to look.

Thanks for you efforts.

Rich

Still waiting. Still very annoyed.

:smileysad:  I just went to the Windows 7 upgrade site to see if I could select the model # like Mark Lenovo just demonstrated. Alas, no. It wasn't working for me. Model # still shows NA with no option to change it. Do we need cancel and then resubmit even though payment went through. How does one do that? Wow, Mark's post has me totally confused now too.

Y550 (418646) with Windows Vista 64bit .  Need upgrade to Windows Home Premium 64bit

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

RCW,

If you were charged in Oct and still have not received your order, then I really want to look into your case.  Can you please send me a PM with your Lenovo XXXXXX order number ?  Please also include what model system you have and what version of Win 7 upgrade you selected.

Desertrattler,

My intent with showing the screen shot was to provide an update for something that we've fixed that I believe will make things easier for future customers who are registering.  I may be wrong, but I believe the upgrade program runs through Jan 2010 if not into February.    I was not suggesting that members re-register.

I was also trying to explain part of the reason for some of the Idea Win 7 upgrade delays and our progress working through existing orders on the books, and our efforts to make things easier for new registrations.

All,

There have been several speculative comments to the effect that we are dragging our feet in order to reject people at the end, allow the program to time out, etc, etc.   Not the case, I assure you.

The way I understand it, as long as you submitted a valid request before the upgrade window (as established by Microsoft) closes, then your upgrade would be fulfilled, even if delivery were past the end of the upgrade order window.

To check out the new functionality of the order site, go to www.lenovo.com/windows7

Select upgrade from the top of the site, select your language, agree to the terms, select your country, and then you can select eitherThink or Idea & Valueline for product.   If you select Idea and Valueline, you can then see the model pull down I was illustrating.   Again, this is not needed if you have already registered, but I was highlighting for the benefit of new arrivals.

Thanks,

Mark
