Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

This sounds very familiar.

I submitted documentation for my purchase on October 20 and received this email in response:

"This is to acknowledge the receipt of your Proof of Purchase.

You will receive another notification email upon validation of your order.

If you have any enquiry, please click on the "CONTACT US" button in Order Status page.

*** This is a system generated email, please do not reply to this email ***"

On November 15, in response to my inquiry below, I received the following email:

"Thank you for your email.

This is to acknowledge the receipt of your enquiry and you will hear from us within 10 business days.

*** This is a system generated email, please do not reply to this email ***
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where can I find my order verification code, so that I can check on the status of my order?"

CONTRARY TO THE ABOVE EMAIL, I HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO MY INQUIRY AS TO RECEIVING A VERIFICATION CODE, SO THAT I CAN CHECK THE STATUS OF MY ORDER.

Euellneverno.   Did you check the subject line on your e-mail (at the top) when you got the e-mail back that they accepted the proof of purchase?  Should be a LENOVO012345 number like that. That is where mine was located.

Ha, shipped today. Finally. This ends my relationship with Lenovo.

Maybe whining works after all (despite what your mother told you.)

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2009-12-17, 3:21 AM

I can understand the frustration over the Win7 upgrade situation.  I had my own issues in attaining the upgrade then I had issues with the power management utility.  The first install on my W500 was over the Vista platform.  This is where my power management utility problems originated.  I then performed a "clean" re-installation and my W500 has been working exceptionally well.  <knock wood>

While I believe the Lenovo Win7 upgrade program has been mishandled (that is saying it mildly), the performance of a computer is what determines whether I disassociate myself from a brand.  My two previous laptops were a Dell M4300 and Dell M2400 and my W500 out performs both of them.  I use an offline programming application from an industrial robotics OEM and the Lenovo performs better then either of the Dell computers ever did.

That said, I had resigned that I would purchase Win 7 myself because I had come to dislike Vista then got a notice that my payment was processed meaning my shipment was close behind.  I received the Win 7 upgrade CDs within a week of my email payment process notification.  So far Win 7 has been a good, and reliable platform.  <knock wood again>  However, the hardware has been outstanding, and it is a refurbished unit.  Outside of a crashed hard drive within 2 weeks and the wrong restoration disks (they sent me an old T400 set that did not have all the drivers and apps for the W500), I have had no problems.  I hope everyone who is frustrated gets their "free" upgrade very soon and that the performance of Windows 7 sooths over the rough patch Lenovo has caused.  Unfortunately people will seek other brands and that was avoidable.

Mark,

Do you know which email I should contact if I order a wrong bit version (I should order 64 bit instead of 32 bit, I choose 32bit by msitake). I tried to contact the upgrade program in the website a lot of times. Everytime the auto reply email said that I should get the reply within 10 works day, but I never get any reply.  I ordered and submit the proof of purchase  in August !!!!!!!

I understand the delivery or process is slow, but I just want to talk with someone to correct my order.

  Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Can someone confirm if the N500 is eligible for the free Windows 7 upgrade.

The upgrade page finally has the Idea & Value line series models on it, but the N500 isn't on the drop down menu.
