Nice mark! Do you have a k230 by any chance? Cause I get the same updates/changes that you get everytime! Hahahah well I'm about 1 hour away from MM, so I'm expecting the DVDs within this week. I'll update on what's included for the k230 system and how the install went! And I know the upgrade has frustrated a lot of people. But for what it's worth, I can't complain. Quality of my k230 is top notch and for what I paid for it, it was almost a steal!

All,

Wish you a happy new year!

I just received my upgrade package. I guess it's a new year gift :)

This  is for my value line series G450. Everyone will eventually get theirs.

Here's the deal - the program costs money to deliver Windows 7 upgrades to individuals.   We have to pay for the media and COAs, we had to develop the driver disks, we have to pay to produce those, we had to pay to develop the registration site, we have to pay Mentor Media to administrate this - process entitlement, collect proof of purchase when needed, process payment, reconcile the information, kit up the proper contents, and finally ship it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which is all well and good...however, charging consumers $17 for "shipping" to cover those costs on what was advertised as a "free" upgrade package isn't quite being honest and upfront with your consumers.  Also, this assumes that your consumer can actually order the "free" upgrade package from your third party partner's website, which has been my problem all along.  I have been trying to order my package weekly since late October through MM's site, and get kicked back to the beginning of the process each and every time.  Emails through their "help" request service have elicited zero response.

So, here I am, in the first week of January, staring down a program end date of February 15, and still haven't been able to even order my package, desperately searching for some resolution.  I come to find thse forums and realize even IF I can ever order it, and pay the astronomical shipping charge for a CDROM that costs about $1.50 to mail, it might be several weeks before I actually recieve it.  All this after your consumers pay $17 each for you to administer the program on something billed as free?

Szynon_Zy,

Thanks for letting us knw we still have some that have been charged and not shipped.  I'll look into your order and see what can be done.

Carmenp97,

What model system are you trying to register in the Win 7 upgrade program?  Where are you encountering difficulty on the registration site?   What step of the process?

All,

I will do my best to try to help individuals on exception basis, as I divide my time up in the forum amongst numerous discussion, issues, and requests.

What will help me most in researching these with Mentor Media will be if you will include:

  • Your Lenovo xxxxxx order number (as Szymon-Zy has above)
  • Your model of system - i.e. ThinkPad T500, IdeaPad Y550, Valueline G530, etc
  • The Win 7 Version you ordered - i.e. Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Ultimate 64 bit, Professional 32 bit, etc

Thanks

I got my upgrade a few days ago. I also got an e-mail from the US director of MM apologizing to me.

Mark I just want to thank you for all your help.
