Re: Windows 7 "FREE" Upgrade

2010-01-31, 2:18 AM

For me it was $30 for the upgrade. It is ridiculous that the "free" Windows 7 upgrade costs the same as the full-price OS from Apple. And if that was not bad enough, they also charged me twice, for a grand total of $60. Which number did you call? I could not contact them through the form on the upgrade website.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

Hi,

I've got the same concern as mjdl. How long should the validation take?

It's now been almost two weeks, since i submitted my pop's, and still no new info from Mentor.

The status page is also showing

Order Status
Pending for Proof of Purchase

I am willing to wait, but the problem is my prepayd credit card, which is about to expire soon. Not to mention, the whole program is also ending soon..

I would appreciate, if Mark could check the following order:

Order Date : Friday, January 22, 2010
Order No. : LENOVO1443908

Order Details
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upgrade Package Qualifying Product Language PC Model Serial No Windows® 7 Professional 32-BIT Windows® Vista Business 32-BIT English 744321G R8***** Windows® 7 Professional 32-BIT Windows® Vista Business 32-BIT English 7667CTO L3*****

I also wonder how exactly does the validation take place. Do they actually contact all the shops or firms, where the products was bought or what? If that's how it works - i wonder what happens, when the company goes to bankrupt and they will never recieve any feedback...

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2010-02-04, 13:29 PM

I finally received my Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade.  As a point of reference, it took 38 days to validate the proof of purchase, 5 days to complete the credit card payment, 2 days to ship the envelope, 5 days to receive the envelope for a total of 50 days end-to-end for this fulfillment process.  This seems quite excessive.

Two additional interesting facts were that Lenovo Limited Group never responded to the Better Business Bureau regarding the complaint.  In Mentor Media's Better Business Bureau complaint response, they included the statement "Due to high demand material availability has been constrained ......", which is interesting.  This could reflect that Lenovo has not been providing Mentor Media the media disks required for shipment.  Regardless what the root causes for these fulfillment failures are, the lack of communications / responsiveness by both Lenovo Limited Group and Mentor Media certainly escalates the customers frustrations.

Good luck with your upgrades .............

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2010-02-04, 15:10 PM

Hi,

I have ordered a Windows 7 upgrade for my Lenovo SL400 Windows Vista Business 32-bit, and I have the order nr.: 1455405.

I ordered the update on 01-23-10 and sent a copy of the proof of purchase in an e-mail as specified. I have still not received any answer on whether the upgrade is accepted or not. I have checked the order status, but it says: Pending for proof of purchase.

What should I do?

Thank you in advance

Oliver A.

I am coming up on 60 days since I started this process. The last communication I received was over a month ago, telling me they could not find my serial number in their database (see poorly worded e-mail, complete with Chinese, below). I again provided proof of purchase paperwork along with additional screen shots showing serial number, bios version, etc. While Mark_Lenovo has been helpful to others, I have written him twice over the last 2 weeks and have not heard back. I have sent multiple e-mails to lenovoautosg@mentormediacorp.com (which is the designated e-mail for proof of purchase) over the last three weeks literally begging for an update. I used to work for IBM, and continued to buy thinkpads after the sale to Lenovo. It is very sad to me to see this brand being destroyed by terrible customer service. Posted this in its own thread before I noticed this one.  Has anyone yet had any luck getting in touch with someone to resolve problems?

So I finally got my upgrade disc last week, and Lenovo seems to have gotten pretty much nothing right.

I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  In English.  So I asked for  7 Home Premium 64-bit.  In English.

So, what did I get?  Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.  With English instructions, and writing on the cd.  BUT, when I put the cd into my computer (before I realized it was the wrong program) the autorun is in Dutch or German or something.

So, I basically got the wrong program in the wrong language.  Not to mention that it took until January to get here.

Anyone know the best way to contact someone to get this fixed?  I haven't had much luck in the past with the contact us link from the Windows 7 Upgrade page.

Mark_Lenovo ---

It has been two weeks now since I notified the company that I received the wrong product, and I have heard nothing in response.  My order number was LENOVO0354953.

Here is the confirmation from my order:

Total Amount = USD 17.03

Can you please provide any assistance?

Thank you in advance

Re: Windows 7 "FREE" Upgrade

There is a board already discussing all things pertaining to Windows 7.  I am certain most, if not all, questions have been answered.  Take a look over there as I am sure there are others with the same concern.
