Re: Where is my Windows 7 Upgrade Disk?

2010-02-12, 21:13 PM

I was so excited when ordering a Lenovo Laptop a month ago.  After going thru all this BS free upgrade I change my mind about Lenovo. I was recommended by my friends about IBM customer service. I guess it is no longer an IBM supreme quality anymore.  I was wondering if Levono executive aware of all this BS.

Re: Where is my Windows 7 Upgrade Disk?

I guess Mark could share some light on this, but who is actually responsible for this mess?

Just stumbled upon the forum thread on microsoft website, discussing the same thing and it appears, we are not alone. Same problems with HPs, Acers and other vendors too.

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/thread/75ae5435-5119-4069-8a70-b1f499ca5a1f

Then i found this from Acer's FAQ:

Where can I find information regarding order status, billing, cancellations, refunds, and returns?
Windows® 7 upgrade order transactions and fulfillment are being handled by Mentor Media, Microsoft’s authorized replicator for fulfilling Windows® 7 upgrades. Visit the Mentor Media website for further FAQs regarding ordering and billing.

So as someone said on MS forum, we should blame Microsoft, who then says it's a manufacturers problem, who points at Mentor Media, who just quietly ignores everything.

Just...wonderful!

And finally some humor:

Milestones:

2000 - Awarded Microsoft Authorized Replicator status

... looks like no awards this year :D

Well, looks like I'm not the only one in the dark.  The Mentor "Contact Us" link has gone from a few weeks for a  generic response now to none at all regarding my problems.  My paranoid mind leads me to assume that they believe by stalling long enough for the program to expire all of those unfulfilled orders will magically disappear.  Love my X301 but the service (at least on this issue) has been beyond abysmal.

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2010-02-17, 12:41 PM

Hey Mark,

I placed an order on Wed January 10 2010 [4 weeks ago!!!]:

Order No. : LENOVO1428952

On the same day, I submitted my proof of purchase to Lenovoauto-sg@mentormediacorp.com as requested.

Around 15 days ago, I sent a web based query asking what was happening to my application and I then received a connfirmation e-mail on the 5th February stating that I would have a response within 10 business days. I have received no response, and it is now the 17th of Feb.

Today, I received an e-mail from noreply@mmedia.mis.com.sg telling me that I had until 5 March 2010 to submit proof of purchase. However, I have already submitted this! I have sent the proof of purchase a second time to the address above beginning Lenovoauto-sg.

Mark please can you prod this order along. I have waited patiently for four weeks and this seems quite unreasonable. I am very keen to get Win7 up and running on my laptop. I expected the upgrade to be free and easy and that was a selling point for me.

Thanks, Andrew
