Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

2010-02-26, 2:43 AM

The deciding factor in purchasing my K230 desktop was the Win7 free ($17.03) upgrade. If I had known that Lenovo was going to make this as difficult a procedure as they have I would not have given them my business. Instead I am stuck dealing with the Chrysler Corp of the computer industry. They have no customer service to speak of and I believe that the walls of silence they have put in place around this program are designed to frustrate and wear down their customers enough to forget about Lenovo's obligation. I have been waiting over 5 weeks for someone to verify a serial number of a computer that they sold to me! And now that they have finally completed that complicated task the credit card # I had given them has expired and it is impossible to change your payment information or have someone tell you how to securely provide them with a new #. I do not expect Lenovo to deliver before the program ends.

My order for windows 7 was placed about 2 months ago, (lenovo 1426300).  All I got was a thank you frrom an outfit called systemmedia, which refuses to respond to inquiries regarding my order.  Is this what I should expect  for possible future problems?  and, will this order ever be filled?

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

I received my windows 7 upgrade a few weeks ago for my IdeaCenter A series and discovered there was a mistake made on my order. I should have prderd the 64 bit but mistakenly ordered the 32 bit upgrade.  I have tried several times to call and email Lenovo and also Mentor Media about exchanging my copy for a 64 bit copy. I have not received a return call or email about my issue.

Can someone please help me to resolve this issue?

Don't know what to think.

On Feb-10 I recieved the "proof of purchase validated" and in the e-mail it said "You will receive another notification email when your order status has been updated."

Just came here and noticed all these people seemed to have access to a status page to check their order. So I went and hunted it down, and accoring to the status page my order is "shipped"

So I have

Feb 10 - They tell me all is good, they will e-mail when updated

Feb 27 - Never got more e-mail, but between then and now my order has somehow shipped with no tracking number, no idea when it shipped, whether or not it has supposedly arrived.

So how do I know? I don't have a upgrade dvd. Did it "come" already? When was it shipped? Should I be waiting? How long does shipping take? Should I be calling/e-mailing someone saying hey I never received it?

Are we supposed to get some form of tracking information?

I just did a check on my orders, and one of them also shows "shipped". No new emails about this, so i guess it's just normal.  (aka a "Mentor Media way" of doing business again)

I dont think there is any way to track the shipment, other than the "shipped" message. We just have to wait..

For those who have recieved 32bit instead of 64 - since the key should work on both editions, it's just a matter of finding the right oem install media (plenty of torrents flying around these days)..

Just as a point of reference, the status of my order changed from "in fulfillment" to "shipped" about a week ago, and the envelope arrived this morning via UPS here in Canada, sent from Mentor Media in the USA. There was no email announcing that the shipment had been made.

Perhaps this is the pattern elsewhere in the world, with longer delays--I don't know. Patience is advised.

FATE,

I'll inquire on these orders.  I will say that in some regions we have been working through a number of orders that may have been placed with fraudulent serial numbers and some bulk orders may take a while to work through.

I'll get back to you via private message on these... it may take a couple of days to research since there are multiple fulfillment centers and you didn't specify your friend's geographic location.
