Order Cancellation

2010-03-23, 14:42 PM

I'm really not sure what just happened.  I bought a Lenovo for my parents back in December, sent off all the information, and now I've been informed the order has been cancelled for lack of proof of purchase.

The thing is, I sent the proof of purchase back in December - have the email and attachment saved.  When I contacted customer support about the cancellation, they replied to my question-laden email with "This order has been cancelled."

They ignored subsequent emails.

Can ANYONE here with some authority please talk to me and help me get this straightened out?

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

Dear Mark,

Can you please help?  I've been emailing Lenovo sales, support, mentor media, and calling Lenovo repeatedly but no one can help.  I just stumbled across this thread and am hoping you can help.

Here is my situation:

I purchased a new configured system (Model #53552JU, Serial # SS09560936) from Lenovo online back on 9/11/2009.

On January 12, 2010 I ordered my Windows 7 upgrade DVD for this machine (Order # LENOVO1373079 ) from the Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade site.  I immediately sent in my proof of purchase via email on the same day.

On Feb. 2, I received an email confirmation from Mentor Media saying that my order had been validated.

By early March I still had not received my Windows 7 DVD.  I went online to track the shipment on the "check status" website, which said there was no such order number or email address.

I started calling and emailing Lenovo to find out what was happening.  Finally, on March 15, I received an email from noreply@mentormediacorp.com stating that my order for the Windows 7 Upgrade kit had been cancelled as "we did not receive your Proof of Purchase."

I of course have all the records, including the sent email with proof of purchase from back in January.  How can I get my DVD?

It seems shameful the way this whole thing has been handled.

Please help!

-Peg

Re: Windows 7 Upgrade fulfillment discussion

Mark,

I am on the same boat.  I have a confirmation email dated 12/9/09 (Order No LENOVO1091006).  I later received a shipment confirmation email dated 12/29/09.  I called UPS yesterday (4/8/10) and was told the tracking number provided is bogus. Can you please explain what happened and when I will be getting the CD?  This looks like fraud if I am reading so many other similar problems.

---

You can track the status of this order as follows:

Carrier Track and Trace Website: http://www.ups-mi.net/packageID/default.aspx
Tracking ID: 420918039102900005936006596521
Delivery Estimate: 3-5 days

Please note that it may take 2-3 days before tracking ID is available for tracking in the carrier website.

Thank you for placing your order with us.

---

Please let me know if I should call my credit card company and go through that route or is there any way you can fix this situation.

Thanks,

Miriam

As a public service announcement... I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.com), and through their mediation Lenovo agreed to send a vista upgrade, free of charge. Unfortunately I am overseas, and they can apparently only ship to the US -- I had them ship to my permanent address Stateside.

Well it has been a long wait but FINALLY my Upgrade DVD arrived today.  Thanks, Lenovo, for straightening out the mentor media mess and making good on your promise.  I knew you'd come through!

Thatpeg, a satisfied Lenovo customer
