Windows 7 drivers - Request For Easy download Options

2009-10-25, 9:57 AM

I have just gone to the Drivers section of my specific laptop ( X61 Tablet) and spent best part of an hour selecting each driver in turn , clicking it , clicking the 'I agree' , clicking the 'save' option and then clicking 'close' when downloaded and then 'back' and 'back' again.

I donwloaded everything I could that was relevant but i know , for instance , the wacomm driver is not there , nor is the Intel Turbo Memory one - both of whih are needed if i am to blow away the current build and rebuild with win 7.

2 questions :

1. Can we not publish a 'bundled' download of drivers for a specific OS - I am sure someone at Lenovo could write a little script to just zip the lot up in the backround and present it as a bundle if requested to do so by the user - you don't need to 'pre-prepare' a bundle so to speak.

also

2. Can we publish ALL the drivers needed for a machine to avoid the need for me now to go off and find the other srivers i need from the Wacamm site (You publish the UPEK fingerprint driversso the abscence of Wacomm is odd)

I know system Upgrade is supposed to do this but i know fr a fact it is not picking up all the bits it should do. For instance I know my Intel Wireless driver i older than that on te X61 drivers page yet the SU utility doesn't seem to recognis that and so wont 'upgrade' it..

Is SU still being worked on?

(ok that was 3 questions I know!)

ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 is for Windows 7. It will roll download and install your drivers and sofware for you.

The Turbo Memory driver is here.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

Appreciate the response here but :

I installed the System Update (as I stated) - It DID NOT WORK FULLY (as I stated).....And as you note the Turbo Memory driver isn't there anyway so it's hardly a complete solution....close but no cigar as they say....

Shouldn't System Update work properly and also do ALL the drivers - including the WACOM driver (which it doesn't) ?

Why system update doesn't download everything for W7 at the moment is explained in this thread.

The Turbo Memory driver IS there. I provided a link to it in my post.

Seems like the Wacom driver is late to the party though...

For my W700 I was able to successfully use the Vista driver. It was buried pretty far down the list, so keep searching.

If anyone with HueyPro sees this, can you post if it has worked on Win 7? Mine hasn't.

Thanks

Huey is our problem child at the moment.  It's on their end, not ours.
