2012-08-11, 7:02 AM

I have a Lenovo B570 that I have upgraded the ram to 8 MB.  I am trying to find out if I am going to have problems upgrading or can I upgrade to Windows 8?

Most likely, if it came with windows 7, it will work with windows 8. you probably won't find out about driver support unless they either A. Add support to the beta page, or B. until windows 8 actually comes out and they release official driver support. They could make an announcement, but I doubt it.

I'd link you to the beta page, but its undergoing maintnence.

presume you mean 16gb... :smileywink:

from the tech spec datasheet: http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/pdf/system_data/b570_tech_specs.pdf

the presumption is "no". in addition its successor, g580, even states 8gb max on the sales page.

It's a good thing I upgraded without even noticing these forums existed.  :smileywink:  Obviously, I didn't even read the tech specs.

I upgraded to the lastest BIOS and then dropped 16GB of Patriot ram(2x 8GB) into my B570.  I bought the $15 upgrade for win 8 via a link on the Lenovo website.  I later added a 240GB SDD rather than the clunky HDD.  This thing flies!

The only thing that does not work is power management.  There's no Win 8 driver for it on the B570.
