BSOD while running Sysprep on Thinkpad Carbon

Symptoms

I am trying to sysprep my X1 Carbon and after running sysprep while shutting down I get a BSOD with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. I've checked the minidump with bluescreen viewer and the faulting driver is listed as ntoskrnl.exe. Any idea what driver could cause this?

Diagnosis

X1 Carbon running sysprep

Solution

The usb 3 driver might be  causing the issue. uninstalling  and reinstalling  all of my usb drivers in device manager right before running sysprep should help resolve the issue
