Win8 "compatibility issue between your power management system and windows"

Hi,

Fresh installed Win8 from a retail DVD onto my N580, installed Lenovo energy management and all usual drivers, everything seems to be working well but the Windows 8 alert system is throwing up the following message:

Compatibility issue between your power management system and Windows

-your power management system isn't compatible with this version of Windows

-the model name of your power management system is Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller

I made sure I have the Windows 8 version of the driver

any help would be appreciated!

Re: Win8 "compatibility issue between your power management system and windows"

Check if installing this helps you:

http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/em8.0.2.3.exe

If you already did this, check if you can do this BIOS update as well:

http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/5ecn96ww.exe

Let me know if it works.

Re: Win8 "compatibility issue between your power management system and windows"

thanks for the suggestions, already updated the BIOS and tried that earlier version of the software.  Haven't had any more complaints from Windows recently though.

If you have any more issues let me know. I have version 8.0.2.4 as well. But I don't know if this is safe to use on your model.

Re: Win8 "compatibility issue between your power management system and windows"

When updating your BIOS you need to check that the BIOS version that you are using is the one to be updated. Some of these machines have multiple BIOS versions depending on when they were made. If you are getting a message about incompatability, then chances are you have a different BIOS version. You can run a Belarc scan and the log will tell you which version you have. Compare it to the version listed on the update page.

Re: Win8 "compatibility issue between your power management system and windows"

I installed Blarc but I didnt find bios versions on the Log. I updated the bios with the program from Lenovo support but still there is a compatibility error with win 8.1 and my Wifi become crazy and disconnect itself so I had to uninstall energy managment so I can bring back wifi but an unkown device in device manager (for energy managment) still anoys me
