Windows 7 Recovery

I've got a T440p with a hard drive that just died.  I got a new hard drive and installed it and I was going to get a recovery disk from Microsoft here:

When I input my product key it said this was a pre-installed OS and I needed to contact the device manufacturer.  I found a webpage for getting a recovery disk from Lenovo here:

However, since my machine was pre-installed with Windows 7 it does not qualify for this recovery.  Is there a way to recover the operating system or does Lenovo just not support that?  Additionally, I wanted to send this questions to an official email; however, I only saw one customer support phone number which was for help purchasing products and for technical problems it only offered a way to submit a service request.  Is there no way to just send a simple email to a customer support person for technical inquiries?

Re: Windows 7 Recovery

You can contact Lenovo US Customer Support using the details on this page:

Whether you call or use the online service form, you'll be given a ticket number to track progress. In reply to your specific question about Windows 7 recovery though, yes, Lenovo can supply the original OS install + drivers + preinstalled software on optical media. Installing this will restore your hard disk to the factory settings and should also re-create the recovery partition.

I do not work for Lenovo, I only provide suggestions based on my personal experience and willingness to help others as a volunteer.

If my reply helps you in any way, press the star on the left to give Kudos.

Re: Windows 7 Recovery

I have T430s and also need recovery discs.

I cannot even create a support ticket b/c the system says:

"Warranty coverage for this machine expired on XXX. Do you agree that this service is billable for both service agent time and materials used? "

On recovery media page

when I enter serial number it says

'This is not a valid Windows machine for the recovery media program. Please enter the serial number for a different machine or Contact Us for further assistance.'

Why lenovo doesn't allow to simply download recovery discs???

Re: Windows 7 Recovery

Microsoft determines the rules for operating system download availability, not Lenovo.
