Hi Everyone!
I'm trying to upgrade my Windows 7 Pro x64 installation to Windows 8 Enterprise x64 RTM, but i always get the message, that i have to uninstall the "Lenovo Auto Scroll Utility"...
I never installed this utility...also checked all program folders and also the registriy...there is also no registered service or something else...
i also tried to "install" the utility to "uninstall" it again - always same message...
Does anyone of you have an idea to fix this? I don't want to setup the system completly new...
Thx for your suggestions and best regards!

I believe that program is part of the Hotkey package.

Oops, misread that. For windows 7 its part of the Hotkey integration. should be able to remove it without removing the rest. I always do clean installs though, usually runs better.

I have the same problem. Have uninstalled, installed, and uninstalled again many times, yet Win8 won't install - because of the stupid Lenovo auto-scroll. I cannot find how to remove it manually - only the install/uninstall through the downloadable package. Doesn't work.

Hi, I was also facing the same issue where Windows 8 setup keep on poping up "Lenovo Auto Scroll" manual uninstall...I installed and uninstalled in Safe mode and that worked for me...now it looks good and moved forward for installation.
Crossed my fingers for any other issue during installation.

Safe mode might be an option, too. I eventually found a web site saying the auto-scroll feature was once called virtual scroll as well as specifying where to find it in the registry: http://www.system-tray-cleaner.com/systray/program
Greatings from the "other side". :-)

After a lot of search for a soluton, I found a really easy way to delete Auto-Scroll:
- After the deinstallation, the Windows 8 installer still says, that Auto-Scroll has to be deleted. but this time manually.
- You have to delete the VIRTSCRL folder (itis in C:\Program Files\Lenovo)
- You have to delete the registry-key with the value "LenovoAutoScrollUtility". Search the registry for Lenovo Auto Scroll and make sure that there are no additional keys
- Delete the Auto-Scroll Part in C:\DRIVERS
That should cover it. If Windows 8 still don´t want to install, remove all Lenovo Programms.
Now, I am on the dark-Windows 8-side too. ![]()

I have a W700 running Win 7 x64 Ultimate and same problem here, but got past it.
I downloaded Hotkey, but it didn't include the Auto Scroll Utility. So I ended up doing another search specifically for it, found the install file, installed it, then uninstalled. Finally I was then able to continue with the Windows 8 install.
But my next hurdle was the Intel PROSet/Wireless. Same issue. Except I definitely had that installed, but after selecting to uninstall via Windows 8, it still said Manual uninstall required. I downloaded the package, reinstalled, then uninstalled...all went well, but Windows 8 still said it was there.
Fnally, the only thing to do was regedit and that solved the problem.

I uninstalled the ThinkPad TrackPoint driver. After this Win8 stopped complaining and started upgrading.
