I try to install Win8 RP on my X1.
First phase of setup (serial and file copying) done smoothly. After reboot, "Windows" text appeared, then HDD LED blinked, than rotating dots showed in the bottom of the screen. But after one or two dots appeared, X1 froze.
BIOS update for Win8 installed. No external devices attached.

Hi reptiledot, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
The first thing to try is re-download the install iso and burn a new DVD.
Tell us how it goes!

ISO is 100% correct, because I used same disk to successfully install Win8 on several computers and VMs.
Now I find workaround - disabling "UEFI USB Support" in BIOS allows Win8 to load without freeze.
