Question

Since I have upgraded my Outlook from 2003 version onto 2010 version it  works slow.

Is there anything I can do ?

Answer

The way Outlook 2010 works has changed. There are 2 possible ways of solving this issue

 Disable Individual Plugins

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run > Copy and Paste the following command in the open box and press Enter.

Outlook /safe

If Outlook safe works as expected, disable the add-ins for it using the following steps:

a) Click on File menu, click Options > Add-ins > Go button besides Manage: Com-in Add.

b) Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox to disable them.

c) Close the Office program and restart it.

Try to enable only the headers

By default, Outlook 2010 downloads both the emails and the attachments for every folder. As a result, users with mailboxes larger than 1 GB may find that Outlook takes a long time to download their messages. Previous versions of Outlook only downloaded the message headers by default. This setting was changed in Outlook 2010 to allow the program to index all content and display information about the emails and attachments each contact has sent Follow these steps to change this setting to only download the message headers to speed up Outlook:

  1. Run Outlook 2010.
  2. Click the Send/Receive tab.
  3. Click Send/Receive Groups and select Define Send.Receive Groups. This will allow you to edit settings for send/receive groups.
  4. Select All Accounts and click Edit.
  5. Click the Download headers for subscribed folders option.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.
