Windows 2003 x64 on a X220?

Just wondering if anybody has tried to install Windows 2k3 x64 on a X220.

It's still my favorite OS of all time, and I'd love to have that option if at all possible.

I've never tried 2008 server, if the Win7 drivers cross over (like XPx64 and 2003x64) it might be something that's more likely to happen.

Hello,

Unless you find Windows XP 64 Bit Edition device drivers for the X220, it is likely many of the ThinkPad specific features will not work, or only provide basic functionality.  You can always disable the Desktop Composition and Themes services to give the operating system a more Classic Windows feel.

Re: Windows 2003 x64 on a X220?

Windows 7 drivers generally work on Server 2008R2. Notable exception is the Catalyst driver (AMD goes out of their way to make this incompatible, but there's a patcher available).

Server 2008R2 is way leaner than Windows 7. Smiley Tongue
