Re: Miix 700 Keyboard dropouts are so vexing - need firmware update!

I can't see this firmware upgrade on Lenovo Companion, and I don't see any new drivers related to the keyboard on the website.

I see a 0010 for Miix 3 but only 0009 for Miix 700.

Same here, I don't see 0010 firmware for the Miix 700.

Maybe you can upload the firmware uupdate for us to test it?

Lenovo Companion should download it to the C: drive somewhere.

What model exactly is your miix 700?

Re: Miix 700 Keyboard dropouts are so vexing - need firmware update!

I just got the machine a few days ago. Out of the box the keyboard wouldn't register at all until I update the tablet to its latest BIOS DFCN51WW and the Folio keyboard firmware to V0009, all from the official Lenovo drivers website.

I notice the missing keys problem only happens when the keyboard is raised up by magnetically attached to the tablet. Laying it flat will make the problem completely go away. People have suspected that the raised up position might worsen the connection between the keyboard and the tablet. If this is true then I don't think any software / firmware will help.

Hope this might be useful to some.

PS: I typed this response by the folio kb and no missing keys. I've also tested this for 30 mintues of continuous typing in Words.

The cause of the issue is due to the built-in accelerometer in the folio case/keyboard.  When the keyboard is raised up, the vibration cause by the keystrokes is being interpreted by the firmware...and for whatever reason, the firmware decides to momentarily ignores the pressed keys.  When you lay the keyboard flat, there's less vibration.  This is why you're not experiencing the issue.

However, for people who travel and use the Miix 700 on flights and trains, this is a no go (flat or raised keyboard).

...Q4 of 2016...still not solved.

If it's in the keyboard, couldn't they just release a 0009 firmware without accelerometer support and that would fix all issues?

They could.  And that's what the TIP / engineering firmware appeared to have done...except that broke the Function key behaviour and the Alt / Ctrl / Win key behaviour as well.

It was half-baked.

I've currently resorted to using a Logitech K810 on top of the raised folio keyboard.

That would be worse then what we have, folding you keyboard under would cause mass keystrokes while holding it.  and closing it would cause the tablet to wake while in transport if a key is pressed while moving it.
