Re: Miix 700 Keyboard dropouts are so vexing - need firmware update!

Yay!  The update seems much better - haven't been able to trigger the loss of keystrokes issue yet.

Is there any chance we can get a fix for Fn Lock Lenovo?  Either a BIOS setting or enable Fn+Esc to toggle between Hotkey mode and Fn key mode?

Cheers,

Jason

Anyone else having issue with the two-finger tap after the firmware upgrade?

I used to be able to do a "right click" by tapping with two finger. Now it only works for two-finger clicks.(And I hate touchpad clicks)

Updated: After a bit of googling, I found the solution:

Open regedit, go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Elantech\SmartPad" and edit the following values:

"Tap_Two_Finger_ShowItem"=dword:00000001
"Tap_Two_Finger_Enable"=dword:00000001
"Tap_Two_Finger"=dword:00000001
"Tap_Two_Finger_Ex"=""
"Tap_Two_Finger_Path"=""

After that either restart windows or disable/enable thetouchpad, and voila!!

PS. Have i mentioned how much better is the keyboard after the firmare update? :p

I updated my original post (a few post above).

So happy with the keyboard now!  Yay!

Now, I just need to find a software solution to toggle / remap the function key to F* keys.

Thanks a lot for the 2 fingers tap fix @droopanu. This also enables the 2 fingers tap option in the Elan control panel. Why they disabled this from the start is puzzling.

However, I feel like this time around it is less responsive. I have to 2-fingers-tap a few times to register and bring up the menu...

On the other hand, the keyboard functions awesomely now.

PS: For future proof, does anyone know from which device is the ELAN driver pulled from? In case the official Miix 700 drivers & download page isn't updated. Thanks.

The touch pad driver is posted in the Miix 700 drivers page. It was Posted August 22nd 2016 and is the same driver the service bulletin suggests installing.

Ok, so the keyboard is great but the TP is very wonky.  The cursor randomly stops responding to input.

@opampman

Did you try to reinstall the firmware update?

Just want to report back here after spending a day with the keyboard and trackpad.

Keyboard is working perfectly as expected now.  Really happy with it.  (I can now play Type Racer without drop outs - this was my test case.  Orgianlly first noticed the issue when I was typing in URLs in browsers).

The trackpad's two-finger tap (to trigger a right click / popup menu) registry modification doesn't seem to retain the expected behaviour after a reboot.
