Re: Miix 700 Keyboard dropouts are so vexing - need firmware update!

Same problem.  If I try to run the file as administrator, it cannot be found.

Thank you for the feedback about the firmware package not executing as expected. I escalated a case to have this resolved.

Sincerely,

Who marked this thread as "Solved"?  It's not solved until the firmware package works and with the firmware reported to be functional as expected.

This is now 5 months since the thread started.  10-12 months since the product was released.  That's 50% of the product's current lifetime.

I was able to run it, by using 7zip to extract the .exe and run the usb_test1 file inside of there.

I actually tried exactly that yesterday .  It errored out and left the keyboard totally non-functional.  I was able to bring it back using the older folio firmware update on the support site.

I don't know why we had different experiences, but this may not be a usable work-around for everyone.

Just saying,

Z.

Re: Miix 700 Keyboard dropouts are so vexing - need firmware update!

I was able to get it work (somehow) with below workaround:

1. After unzipping miix700_firmware_ve001.exe using 7zip to a folder (say miix700_firmware_ve001), I found "ISPDLL.dll" inside it is of 0 kb.

So, I used the ISPDLL.dll included in the unzipped chelsea_folio_fw_v0009.exe (last version of firmware from Miix 700 drivers from Lenovo's driver page) and pasted it inside the miix700_firmware_ve00 folder

2. I was then able to run usb_test1.exe. After running and pressing "update", the program quits by itself (is this by design?).

Now I am left with a keyboard that doesn't appear to have missing keys anymore, no matter in flat or slanted position :)

Sounds pretty sweet, huh?

Unfortunately / Fortunately, some unexpected "sidekicks" are observed also:

- The F1-F12 keys now default to their original purposes (e.g. press F2 will trigger rename in file explorer), and you will need to use Fn+F2 to do volume down. Pressing Fn+Esc can toggle this behavior fortunately.

- The "Win" key does not trigger windows start menu when being pressed alone. However, combinations Win+ Tab will bring up the usual task view.

- When "Alt+tab" is triggered, the windows overview appear as usual; however, it does not automatically toggle to the next window and instead the view stays there and you will need to press enter to continue the toggling.

I still doubt if the above is expected by Lenovo engineers or as a result of our manual intervention into the firmware package.

The "ISPDLL.dll" file is corrupt as you mentioned.

Let's hope for a quick fix from Lenovo.

Really looking forward to a fix finally for this issue!!

I was also able to flash this firmware using the same method. It HAS fixed dropped key strokes but i exsperience the exact same issues you do with the windows and function keys. It appears this firmware is named FN+ESC test so I think they gave us a engineering test release.

I am so glad they finally fixed this we had all 6 of these units we sold to end users returned to us for this exact reason and we have been sitting on them since.
