Re: Miix 700 Keyboard dropouts are so vexing - need firmware update!

Has anybody experienced an improvement to the problem after swapping out the keyboard via warranty?

Don't think a replacement of the keyboard would help as it's a firmware issue, instead of a hardware revision issue.

The fact that I can't type a single double-quote without pressing twice is bizarre enough.  What kind of half-baked keyboard is this?

Can you unflag this thread as "Solved" as it obviously isn't.

It's "Solved" because nobody cares about solving this issue, lol.

Well I still hope they're working on this, but after this being like that for a year, it starts painting a picture ...

Good thing I work for a computer company, depending on the outcome of this

I will make sure Lenovo gets my recommendation, or not :)

Best thing for now is to apply that ve001 firmware honestly as the dropouts make it unusable ...

I'm reposting the link just in case: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=04782466319844059114

Unfortunately, I rely on hotkeys / combo-keys quites a bit throughout my day.  The ve001 firmware, in my use cases, is even worse.

Might not work best in that case, but for [a-z] usage it will be better :)

Ctrl-Esc I think moves it out the funtion lock, does that fix any of the combo keys?

Combo keys to me are the Alt and Ctrl...I can't do proper menubar navigation via keyboard with the ve001 firmware.

With regard to the Ctrl-Esc (to toggle between Function key and shortcut behaviour), they should have had it as a user-configurable setting (to set what the default F* keys behaviour is).

I opened the Lenovo Companion program today and I see there's a keyboard firmware update available, version 0010.  Is this the firmware you're all running? Maybe this firmware update it's trying to give me is the fix you guys are waiting for?

I don't know if I've just gotten extremely lucky or what, but my Miix 700's keyboard has worked perfectly from day one (I bought it about 2 weeks ago).  After reading this thread I'm hesitant to update the firmware in case it makes it stop working right.

You can test your keyboard and see if your keyboard is affected.  Test by typing continuously for 2 minutes at 75 WPM or more.  Also, test by seeing if you can type a single double-quote without pressing the key twice.
