Miix 700 bluetooth keyboard?

2016-03-15, 5:27 AM

How do I get the Bluetooth keyboard to work?  Just bought the Miix 700.  If the keyboard is not bluetooth as advertised, I may take it back.  Thanks

Re: Miix 700 bluetooth keyboard?

Hi Opampman,

At least in the US models, the keyboard only works when attached (via the pogo pins at bottom).  (I think this is similar to Microsft's Surface as well.)  The keyboard is not self powered as it has no battery.  I bought a separate Logitech bluetooth keyboard with two small batteries inside which works perfectly.  I only use the Miix keyboard if going out

Hope this helps,

Can you please tell us the model of the bluetooth keyboard you bought?

According to early reports (www.umpcportal.com/2015/09/ lenovo-ideapad-miix-700-hows-that-keyboard-video), the Miix 700 was supposed to be shipped with a USB keyboard. I wonder whether Lenovo will eventually make a bluetooth keyboard with the same form factor and connection as the current one.  I imagine that it could have a rechargeable battery powered when connected to the Miix.

Hi MarcoGV,

I use a Logitech K480 bluetooth keyboard.

As reference, I believe the Lenovo X1 Thinkpad Tablet (i.e. the business version of the Miix 700) also has a similar keyboard with pogo-pin connectors.  It was initially reported this would be a bluetooth keyboard as well but as far as I know it is not and only works when connected to the machine.

Overall, I have concluded that Lenovo did a poor job of rushing the device and printed materials before everything was ready so I would take those early reports from the Fall of 2015 as incorrect.  Even the Tech Support people did not have enough information after I received my Miix 700!  As another example, early reports said the stylus/pen was included but that was incorrect.

Bad, Lenovo, bad!
