You can find the P/N on the official maintenance manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/miix720-12ikb_hmm_201611.pdf

Re: Miix 700 - issues after updating folio keyboard firmware

With the 0010 driver, there is a way 'hack' to get it to work. As mentioned before, the cursor dropouts only occurs when one finger is on the touchpad. Usually, if you have two fingers on the touchpad, the cursor will not move, but instead scroll or zoom. However, if one finger still and on the bottom left or right (where the left/right click buttons are), the cursor will move. This will mean that when the cursor dropout is occurring, you need to have two hands: the right thumb/index finger on the bottom right, and right fingers doing everything else (or the other way round), and when scrolling or doing other multi-touch gestures, you need to remove that finger. Other than that, it works fine, and personally, I found that to work better than using the 0009 driver.

Re: Miix 700 - issues after updating folio keyboard firmware

Hi Guys,

I did a testing today and till now it seems working well. I would like to see if this works for others also:

1) Downgrade the keyboard to 0009 as mentioned before.

2) Extract the installation program V0001, Only copy out EFORMAT.INI, HIDDLL.dll, ISPDLL.dll, USB Keyboard.MTP and KBFW.exe to another folder

3) Run KBFW.exe in the other folder, as this folder do not have WINIAP.exe, the 2nd part of the installation can't be done. Just press OK to skip it and restart the computer.

4) Go to device manager, reinstall the Elantech  driver and restart the computer again.

5) Done.

Thanks...

What will this new installation do? I assume this brings it back up to version 10 and allow elan to work but no freeze?

Yes...

I'm using this setup for like 4 hours till now. The keyboard never missed a key stoke for once. The trackpad is having very minor freezing but it is definately usable.

But, we already know that the 0010 firmware has fixed missed keystrokes. Also that it has improved the freezing problem, turning it practically into a random slowdown (& a considerable lag). I was also sceptical when i read the instructions but i can see from the results that they don't bring anything else beyond standard 0010 behavior.

Yeah.. not quite sure how that improves.  I have just downgraded from the instruction and stayed with 09 and it seems to work fine.  Haven't noticed any major keystroke.  There's no freeze but sometimes seems to be a bit too sensitive.. speed needs to turn down.

From what I remember, for me the missing keystrokes happened when you have the keyboard at an angle, and then started typing with a bit of vigor. It never seemed to happen if I was typing gently, or if the keyboard was flat on the desk. Apparently a built-in sensor (probably an accelerometer) would cut in momentarily masking the odd keystroke.   I think the release notes for the newer firmware mentioned this.

Hi Erevos,

Before doing so my touchpad will be totally freeze at some point without any resolution except touching the buttom left or buttom right coner.

Now it seems the freezing is very mirror to me. Don't know if my upgrades before was not working.

Btw, if the missing keystoke issue can be fixed with some work around on version 0009, I will be most happy to stay with it....

I understand Flautist, my point was that you don't need some special procedure (at least i didn't) to install the 0010 firmware that solves the missing keystrokes. I believe most of us were able to simply flash it when it became available.

I am back to 0009 for now, but still need to test longer to see if i miss keypresses. On a sidenote, i  gave in and ordered a 720 keyboard and am now eagerly awaiting its delivery (which could take a while it seems). I am really curious to see how that one behaves..
