Re: Miix 700 no touchpad driver

Thank you, jlb_1. This works for me.  I would still like to change the sensitivity on my brand new Miix 700. I wonder whether that is possible now.

You're welcome, MarcoGV.

Did you try this for updating your keyboard?  It worked for me.   (Used symptom 2.)

Folio case firmware for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ideapad Miix 700-12ISK

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/tablets/miix-series/miix-700-12isk/downloads/DS112010

Hope it helps!

Re: Miix 700 no touchpad driver

Thank you, jlb_1. I am still getting used to the keyboard and touchpad. It may be that I can live with the default; I will keep your pointer in mind.

Edit: Here is a follow-up question.  The document mentions both the BIOS version and the firmware version.  I found the BIOS version (it's DFCN37WW), but I do not know how to find the firmware version.  (I expect it to be either 0007 or 0009.) How does one find the firmware version?

Re: Miix 700 no touchpad driver

2016-07-31, 1:17 AM

Finally had the time to attach the folio and install the current driver.

Part of the problem is that Lenovo doesn't tell us anything in the manuals and support pages, so it's up to users to discover how to use things by the touch, feel and experiment, then pass that on to others... works, but it's pretty inefficient.

The only source that I have found for using the folio touchpad have been posts in this thread, but, when I finally sat down to experiment, some of those were misleading.  I did, however, discover a couple of additional facts, so, I'll post a summary.

  • There are three hardware mouse buttons located under the touchpad surface
  • There are two hardware buttons under the bottom edge, one on each side of the burnt orange line
  • These two buttons serve as left/right mouse buttons... yes, rightclick works
  • There is a third hardware button under the main part of the touchpad that functions as a left click
  • This can be confusing since tapping the touchpad without enough force to trigger the hardware button also signals a leftclick
  • two finger pinch/spread works, but only if you are somewhere that it is supported... in FireFox for example.
  • two fingers moved together in the same direction up/down scrolls vertically... again you have to be in a scrolling environment
  • two fingers moved together left/right scrolls horizontally
  • If a hardware <ctrl> key is held, two finger scrolling works for things such as resizing desktop icons... this does not work when the OSK <ctrl> key is used.
  • Scrolling works in an intuitive direction... i.e. two fingers with the cursor positioned on a screen of text moves the text in the same direction as the fingers move... admitedly, the reverse of dragging a scrollbar
  • The left touchpad hardware button can be used for <click><hold><drag> operations

Any other findings?

Hope that this information is helpful

Re: Miix 700 no touchpad driver

2016-10-21, 13:04 PM

In response to customer reports of unexpected keyboard behavior when using Miix 700 2-in-1 systems, Lenovo has released a firmware update to improve customer experience.

The Service TIP with firmware can be found here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht501735

Please note that both the firmware and touchpad driver must be updated to v.12.8.11.13 or higher in order to fully implement this solution. The keyboard folio case should be connected during the update process in order for the updates to be successful.

If these updates do not improve the typing experience on Miix 700 systems, please contact Lenovo Service for a folio case replacement under warranty.

Thank you,

This needs to be remarked as "NOT SOLVED"

The firmware updater is crude and is, imho, not ready to release.  I have run it twice and get an "update failed" notification.  The english also takes time to comprehend.

It appears that the updater is not aware that win10 is going to ask for permission twice from an administrative user... but, it times out even if the user responds as fast as possible to both of the win10 dialog boxes.

First question... is there any way to determine if the update was successful?... i.e. look at the folio firmware version number?

Until someone from Lenovo responds, I am not going to attempt to update the touchpad driver.

I really hope Lenovo bothers to read these forums. I have updated the driver software to the latest version and the touchpad is still next to unusable. Sometimes it is super sensitive, other times it won't respond at all, and having to use a mouse with the device defeats it's intended purpose.

Okay, how do I change it to "Not Solved?"

Amy_Lenovo,

We need your assistance in this other thread: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-based-Tablets/Miix-700-issues-after-updating-folio-keyboard-firmware/td-p/3470956

It relates to a touchpad issue that was caused by the firmware+driver update of the folio case.

fwiw, Amy_Lenovo's profile has all contact options turned off...

Lenovo makes it pretty clear that they don't want users bothering them.
